Played tanks on PS4 - first impressions. We played tanks on PS4 - first impressions Opinion of Ruslan, editor of the section

Once upon a time, PC players were proud of their exclusives, but they began to betray them. Every year more and more F2P projects that were only on the PC are smoothly moving to the consoles. After all, you see, lying on the couch in front of the TV is always more pleasant to play than hunched over in front of the monitor, albeit with a mouse in hand.

Company WargamingI decided not to sit on the sidelines and connect to the development of consoles. The gameWorld of Tanksfinally released on all new generation consoles. At first it was X-One, and now it's time for the Japanese with theirPS4.

At the same time, the developers decided not to port the game, but gave a small departmentWargamingfrom America the task is to create a game from scratch on a new engine in the shortest possible time. They turned out even better than we expected.

The mechanics of combat itself remained untouched. Why reinvent the wheel if it already exists and functions well. You just need to adapt it to gamepads. Since there was no port from the PC version, we did everything under the gamepad from the very beginning, as a result it is very convenient to play, you don’t need to get used to it for months, like with the same shooters ( Titanfall or the latest Call of Duty ), where the dynamics in the battle prevail.

AT World of Tanksyou don’t really need to rush into battle: hatch in the bushes, gradually move from one house to another, look for a position where you don’t even need to move, but only control the tower. You get used to all this from the first minutes of the battle. And these battles at the beginning are purely against artificial intelligence.

If we compare graphics, then on "soapy"consoles: it's raining, clouds overshadow the blue sky, a thunderstorm can be heard and seen, and drops flow down the screen. At the same time, each blade of grass, bush or tree is able to move from the wind. But onPCUnfortunately, this has not yet been delivered in full. In the end, "soap" wins. Here you are immediately given models of all tanks and all maps with HD textures.

What can’t be said about the content: at the start, only three are available to usdevelopment branches: USSR, Germany and America. On the one hand, this is correct, this game has existed for more than a year, and if you add everything at once, there will be some problems with the balance. Well, as they say,"Good little", and then we'll burn some more.

KartSo far, there are plenty of them - 20 of them, and half of them have different weather conditions. It's snowing on some, raining on others, and some just turned off the sun. Well, how could it be without exclusivity, naturally temporary, in the form of two maps: a large desert called"Scorpion Gorge"and ruined city"Ruinberg".

Can't get pasthangar, about which there are two opinions: some believe that it is very convenient, everything is intuitive; and the other, that nothing is clear, it takes time to figure everything out, it’s better on a PC, “azaz” ... I join the first camp, I don’t see any difficulties in managing, although the gamepad is not native to me. Everything in the hangar remains the same as before. You can take tasks, research a new tank, buy it, attach new guns, tracks, a turret to it, but not separately - everything here comes as a set.

Even a penny can be brought out of your pocket.Donathas not undergone any changes, as in the good old ones, here they are allowed to buy a premium account, gold, change experience, etc.

At the end of my short review, I want to express my respect to the developers. They were given a task, and they completed it with 5 plus.

Release WOT on PS4 has kind of given the game a new lease of life. If you have a console, why not download it, because everything is free. Ride a couple of evenings, and there you never know, it will drag out. See you later!

Review of World of Tanks for PlayStation 4

The arcade tank simulator World of Tanks did its best to take advantage of the PlayStation 4 platform. Support for the Share Play, PlayStation Vita Remote Play, DUALSHOCK 4 functions has already been implemented. A new level of battles is provided. In addition, fans of this console will be able to treat themselves to a platinum trophy, and four founders' packs with premium content.

Graphic arts

Console game graphics much improved compared to the PC version. The picture on the TV is excellent - details, special effects, clear texture contours. The game runs without delays and twitches. At the end of the review there are screenshots and a video where you can see the features of the graphics. Even considering that YouTube cuts the quality of the picture, you can create your own idea of the graphic component.

Gamepads

The game is controlled using a gamepad. The game shows all its best sides, of course, with the Sony Dualshock 4 gamepad. We do not agitate to immediately run to the store, but Dualshock 4 owners will rightfully appreciate the efforts of the developers.

We noted some features: on the gamepad you feel the nuances of the map landscape better, it became more convenient to adjust the speed of the car. But aiming has become more difficult. The good news is that all players (both you and opponents) find themselves in such conditions. And what at first seemed like a drawback turned out to be an interesting feature that brings new intrigue to the game.

Keyboard and mouse

At the time of writing, mouse and keyboard support for World of Tanks on PS4 is not possible.

Clans

The game has a clan system. True, while the clans serve to select a partner in battle and communicate (the “chat” function). But knowing Wargaming, the clan system will still develop.

PvE and PvP

On the console, you can play with both live opponents and bots.

Overview of the exclusive tank Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. J

1. To play CoD online, you need a PS Plus subscription, a three-month subscription costs about a thousand rubles. Many players are unhappy with this, but what to do, these are the rules. Here you can argue and bicker for a long time, PC owners will grin, they say, they also pay money for this, PS4 owners will grin - but you don’t need to update the system from game to game and encounter incorrect work. In general, all this can be continued ad infinitum. But, most importantly, the developers of WoT and Sony managed to agree, so a PS Plus subscription is not needed to play online. This, of course, is a huge plus. It seems to me that WoT may well become a kind of "driver" for PS4 in Russia - firstly, the game is very popular here, and secondly, you can connect the set-top box to a TV, create an account and start playing right away, without extra expenses. Rather, all expenses in WoT are at your discretion.

2. Graphics-wise, it took hours to download and install the "high-res textures" - if you start downloading the game before you leave for work, it will be loaded by the time you arrive. By the way, you can start downloading from your smartphone, don't forget. So, if we talk about graphics, then the PC is ahead here, but on a TV with a FullHD screen, the game looks very good (in my opinion). Naturally, there is no need to think about drivers and any problems, for long hours of the game there was not a single crash, not a single stop and other problems.

3. The game runs on a European server by default, the network code is fine-tuned - no delays, no lags, I didn’t notice anything like that. What can not be said, for example, about CoD: Black Ops 3. The loading of the hangar is fast, there are slight delays only in the built-in store. In the game, I may have noticed some twitching, but this is a fraction of a second and does not affect the gameplay.

4. If you have previously played on a PC, you are tired, you ran to buy a console for the sake of playing WoT, keep in mind that you need to get used to the joystick. And it's not an hour, not two, not a day, not even a week. Alas, this is a completely different control system, so it will take a month of training until you can get comfortable with the joystick in WoT. Even I can’t always move straight back or turn the tank at a slight angle to the enemy, the slightest movement of the stick - and now the tank is already leaving in the wrong direction. When it comes to WoT, the PC version has the most precise controls, then consoles, then Blitz - I can't play the latter because I hate playing with touch screens. I hope I expressed myself as clearly and intelligibly as possible - the controls in the PS4 version have their own characteristics, and this must be taken into account. If you feel like you need to work out, try riding in training modes.

5. The game has artillery, as far as I understand, it is done similarly to the PC version: a map opens, you select a square, and so on. In fact, artillery is not as terrible as it is painted. On tanks of small levels, you have to constantly watch how many "squares" the enemy has, one hit - and that's it. Starting with HF, this is no longer so important. On the other hand, "art" can do a lot of damage with critical hits on tracks when you can't move. In general, in terms of tactics, you yourself probably know everything - in general, on PS4 you can start playing with artillery and then move on.

6. It seems that WoT for many is already a passed stage, it seems that why these consolers need a good old PC game - but now WoT, to put it mildly, is incredibly popular. As of January 29, there were 1,400,000 installs of the game, with about 32,000 players online daily on the European server. It is clear that compared to a PC this is a drop in the ocean, but you also consider that about 36 million PS4 consoles have been sold in the world. That is, the results on attitudes are very interesting, and they, of course, are already different - people are interested in this universe, and this is not at all some kind of fleeting hobby.

7. In the PS4 version, two new console-only maps are Scorpion Rift and Ruinberg. The first one is personally uncomfortable and strange for me, in the center there is a hill, on one side there is a desert, on the other side there is a village, I constantly see that the players, as if in thought, are standing and deciding where to go. On the other hand, Ruinberg is a very perky and cheerful map: railway tracks, avenue, houses, a kind of cake, on the avenue, heavy tanks go on direct fire and click impatient novice players, between houses you can go around the HF from the rear, in general, interesting.

8. As I was told, the prices in the in-game store are different, for example, 1,200 gold costs 376 rubles. As far as I understand, the economy itself is no different from the PC version, for battles you earn experience and silver, for gold you can buy premium, equipment, train crew more efficiently, transfer experience from other combat vehicles and buy special tanks. You can try not to spend money at all - I didn’t succeed, and in the first week I quietly spent about three thousand. You can write it off as a hobby.

9. So far, only three branches, Russian, German and American, it seems that not all tanks are present. The developers promise in 2016 a lot, a lot, a lot of interesting things - new tanks, new tasks, new maps. I believe that the success of WoT on PS4 may push Wargaming to speed up work on World of Warships for the console - such work is certainly underway.

10. The official site of this version of the game, you can watch the news. My nickname is Zavackiy, add me as a friend, let's play.

Recently World of Tanks came out on PS4. And now that the most popular project Wargaming available on both main consoles of the current generation, we are ready to tell you how the console versions differ from the PC version.

Controls and interface take some getting used to

enduring World of Tanks on PS4 and Xbox One (and don't forget the "trial" version for Xbox 360, which was released in 2014), Wargaming has put a lot of effort into making it as convenient to play on the controller as on the keyboard and mouse. You don't have to look far for examples of other successful adaptations - Diablo 3 and Divinity: Original Sin consoles feel great.

It turned out well, but not without compromises, especially if you change to the console version from the PC.

The first thing that catches your eye is that the developers, for obvious reasons, had to sacrifice text chat in favor of voice communication and an additional interface with quick commands.

As for the gameplay, the main shooter mechanics really fit organically into the classic layout of the gamepad, but the movement tied to the left stick can be confusing at first: you can accidentally start to turn the tank around, shoot down the aim and lose precious seconds for mixing.

You also need to get used to navigating the map again: viewing sectors with the cursor is still much more convenient than with the stick. After Destiny, where the “computer” role-playing interface with a cursor is exemplary, returning to cumbersome menus that you have to scroll through with buttons (if, say, you already have a decent collection of vehicles and camouflages for them in your hangar) is depressing, but not fatal.

It's not just a console version

Console controls and the interface, coupled with minor mechanical changes (Wargaming added a barely noticeable auto-adjustment of the sight and multi-colored marks showing the likelihood of damage), do not affect the overall dynamics too noticeably.

The class system has not changed - "fireflies" quickly fly behind enemy lines, artillery covers, light, medium and heavy tanks fight in positional battles of varying degrees of tension, and self-propelled guns sit in the bushes and wait.

The set of maps is up-to-date, but in terms of the variety of vehicles, the console WoT is now at the level of the older brother of the 2011 model: at the start, the game has only three classic branches, no French or Chinese so far. Presumably, the rest of the nations will soon add patches.

But visually, the console version turned out to be much livelier thanks to the new engine. Here the developers also made technical concessions, limiting the frame rate to thirty FPS, but otherwise the console World of Tanks wins. The draw distance is longer, the lighting is more natural, the updated physics and destructible in place, and the tank models and environmental textures look just as good as in the PC version, although nominally less resources were spent on them due to technical limitations.

But the main thing is that in the console versions there is a full-fledged cycle of day and night and weather conditions. After five years, the usual maps in the night and rainy scenery are perceived completely differently, and the ordinary fight on the mountain on the Himmelsdorf instantly adds to the drama, when the evening twilight is around, a thunderstorm rages overhead, and raindrops flow down the body of your lurking IS-7. The very case when a fresh look at the visuals changes the feel of the gameplay, and that's great.

* * *

It's a matter of small. Wargaming only needs to fix the little things in the interface and controls and make sure that the console versions of WoT receive updates and additional content more often. Well, it would also be nice to introduce a change in the weather and time of day in the PC version. Everything else is good.
