The only thing is that I missed episode 7, because... it was clear that it was dedicated to low-level fantasy, which would not have much plot value, and it was right. Humor was also brought here, and in principle it was not bad, but there could have been more.

Weak, actually. Starting with the cheap graphonia and ending with the mediocre plot. Names and titles are just a bunch of letters, it’s very hard to hear. Kamon, Ainsualgoun? Even if only in three words. And the rest of the names, Nazarick... Major Kazadov gives a standing ovation. The opening and ending, in contrast, are not bad at all, if you don’t pay attention to the poor pronunciation of English. The rest of the musical accompaniment is quite standard and gray. The action scenes are complete ge, just stretching the timing. Both 2D and 3D are far from being at the level of good anime, here, apparently, they spared money. The main complaint is already my problem, but I was expecting fantasy or epic satire, but all the humor came down to Albedo’s hypertrophied feelings, and to situations of embarrassment and inadequacy of the position of the Overlord himself, and these jokes cost no more than three hundred. And yet there is a certain atmosphere here that does not allow you to drop the title, and perhaps even watch the sequel, but not a fact.

Worst fantasy I've ever seen. Even fantasy harems are much better than this crap. The only thing I liked about this anime was the opening. The drawing is standard, there are no errors or special style here. Now I’ll tell you what I didn’t like.

Plot. The speech here is very drawn out and not interesting. GG helps Christians to have the most useless allies imaginable. If he can't handle someone, what will they do?

Characters. Absolutely all the characters here are boring, although I always really liked the theme of the imbecile GG.

Atmosphere. This anime did not evoke any positive emotions in me. While watching the last episodes I had only one thought, “I wish this would end sooner.”

Robbers robbed travelers in the same way, as always, feudal lords, as expected, ravaged each other's villages, secret communities of renegade magicians plotted insidious plans, gathering armies of the undead, and heroes (from the guild of heroes) performed feat after feat - according to their rank, of course same. In general, it was a cute and quite cozy fantasy world. Suddenly... a wonderful miracle, a wondrous wonder, fell upon them. It literally fell from the sky, out of the blue. A strange, terrible, terrible monster appeared in their lands. At first, the inhabitants of the kingdom of Far Away thought that they would cope with this scourge. They sent hordes of horsemen, mighty magicians, and famous warriors. But they all fell, unable to control the monster. After all, the name of this monster was Mary Sue...

Mary Sue... We can talk a lot about this literary (originally) phenomenon for a long time. However, it all comes down to one thing. To the essence of this concept, which is that Mary Sue is a litmus test of the complexes of its author. They are always on horseback, always successful, strong, invincible. They are surrounded by faithful comrades and beautiful women. Everyone loves and admires them, or, in extreme cases, fears and respects them. Moreover, they do not need to make any effort for all this. Women love them simply because. They have strength simply because. They are brilliant, talented, beautiful - just because. And, of course, they have no equal. Everything fades against their dazzling background...

And Mary Sue, depicted in the anime Overlord, is one of the most unpleasant examples of this type. Momonga is simply the embodiment of the vulgar fantasies of a pubescent young man, who in real life is not at all strong, brave, beautiful and smart. And he doesn’t have any harem. And there is nowhere for him to appear. Immediately he simply changes the program - and the beautiful demoness is at his feet. Here he simply takes out another cheating item from the bins of his homeland - and the enemy is defeated. Here he just needs to snap his fingers - and a whole army of faithful servants will immediately come to his aid. Still, those who oppose him are nothing more than monster extras from some game. They serve only so that the Great Momonga can please his pride, reveling in his own power...

It's simply not interesting to follow all this. This is, in general, the main problem of all Mary Sues. They are downright boring. The events in which they participate are even more predictable than the events in some formulaic shonen. There, at least sometimes victory requires training, pretentious overpowering, and a fight on the flag, when it seems that the GG is about to lose (although, of course, he cannot lose, this is shonen). There is no doubt about who will be the winner. Momonga and his servants don’t even make any special efforts to win. Are you using level 8 magic? Great, then I'll use level 100500 magic. Do you have an all-piercing sword? Great, then I’ll take impenetrable armor that your sword will break on. Do you have an invulnerable shield? Great, then I’ll get a weapon that will help specifically against your shield. One of 100,500 in stock. Oh yes, I also have 100,500 world-class cheat items, I’ll use a couple to be sure to win...

Is this interesting? Not a bit. It just makes you sad. Here you rather begin to root against GG, and not for him. Although you understand the futility of this activity.

But the mayorishness of the GG is not the only drawback of the Overlord. An equally significant disadvantage is that this is a purebred litRPG. No, and among this genre there are worthy examples, but only if the author skillfully balances between leveling, battles, quests and other components of RPG games themselves. There is no leveling up here, because GG is already an invincible top player. There are no quests here, because all problems are resolved by extracting the next miraculous artifact from the treasury of Nazarick. There are dull and boring battles, because it is clear in advance who will win. Moreover, even during the battle there is almost no intrigue. There is a GG here who boasts of his 100,500 skills, like a peacock boasts of feathers. Look what magic I have! And here I am putting a buff on myself! And here's another one! And further! But here I am using a world class item! And one more! But the magic is level 100500! Look, look everyone!

This overwhelming narcissism of the GG (or rather, the narcissism of the author through the character he created) superimposed on a very specific litRPG genre gives rise to an extremely ugly chimera, which you just need to take and crush - out of pity.
