Board game epic battles of battle magicians. Epic battles of battle mages: Battle on Skullflame Mountain Epic battles of battle mages review

Opinion about the board game “Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Mayhem in the Castle of Octopus Slaughter.”

Traveler! Just stop! Do you want to pass by?! I don’t care at all where you were going and why, but now you find yourself near the Slaughterhouse Castle! And this means only one thing: you will participate in a tournament whose epicness has no equal anywhere else! Welcome to “Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Mayhem in the Octopus Slaughter Castle”!!!

“Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Mayhem in the Slaughterhouse Castle” is not some kind of Mortal Kombat or a war with another attacker from some kind of space. Only here and only now will you receive the power of respect and strength MAGA. Therefore, you will immediately be thrown into battle with other similar Mages, whose strength can be equal to or even exceed 9000!!!

There are 8 of you in total, 8 tough fighters, but after at least half an hour you may be left with bloody scraps or even more unpleasant scraps, which we won’t talk about here! To know how much is left for you from the position “I’m the coolest!” to the "someone pick my guts" situation, each MAG gets his own coolness board, which shows the number of punches he can take, as well as the amount of blood he can spend to make his cool spells even cooler!

Oh yes! Spells! When each of you chooses the identity of a MAGIC, you sit down at a single battle table and prepare your spells! Each spell consists of three parts, each more epic than the other, just like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings! The ringleader is the start of your spell, after which you strengthen it with Twist, and then send the final blow with Arrival, after which your enemy may die... or maybe not. Spells can be combined to create epic C-C-C-C-C-COMBOs that can inflict maximum PAIN on your opponent or even several of them, while also healing you or rewarding you with something.

Rolling the dice is the key to success. Just as cool barbarians flex their biceps so they can carry girls in their arms, every MAG must flex his palms in order to successfully roll the dice and get exactly the numbers that will give him the best effect. Depending on how well the MAG can do cool C-C-C-C-C-COMBO, the number of dice he will throw in the face of his enemies also changes, so that he can then throw an equally epic spell at them!

And the most important! In order to become an epic sorcerer, and not a crap sorcerer, you need to say out loud the names of your spells, which are made up of the names of the Ringleader, Twist and Arrival cards. Throw proudly your FROM THE DEMON OF PAIN SALE DUKE OF BELKINGHAM and watch your enemies burn with damage and laughter! And the sorcerer who does not cast his spell will be punished! But as? The players will decide for themselves at the beginning of the MAHACH.

In addition to spells, there are also creatures that you can cast on your table and be glad that it will remain there even after the end of your spell! There are also treasures that will not only make you richer, but will also add a few packs to your abs and table, or give you another cool effect that will help you dominate the battle arena. If you are lucky enough to grab too many sorcerer's lyules, then you become a Dead Sorcerer and receive the corresponding card, which can help you in the future... or not give any effects at all, except for mocking your corpse.

The winner is the one who destroys everyone in several games. He will become the king of the Epic Fight, get the Octopus Slaughter Castle, find out 42, take all the resources, food, beautiful women (or men), and also your socks, if he likes it. Well, that's all!

What exactly does the set of local tabletop exterminatus of your friends called “Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Mayhem in the Slaughterhouse Castle” contain? The creators and publishers from Hobby World put the following components of a future magically epic war into Pandora's box:

  • 178 spell cards, treasures and dead sorcerers.
  • 8 hero tablets, one more beautiful than the other
  • 7 medals of unfinished sorcerers
  • 6 Skulls (not for the throne of Skulls)
  • 6 blood meters
  • 4 cubes (you may need more)
  • 1 Sprutoboyny Castle
  • Rules of the game (for dummies)

After evaluation Organization of Magic Massacres named after Gandalf the Cool this set gets a "Concentrated Cool" rating because the publisher doesn't know the "K" word other than "Cool." And this word is “Quality”.

“Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Mayhem in the Slaughterhouse Castle” is your starter pack for the most fun frenzy among friends (enemies!). Trash and frenzy are the main two words that can be used to describe this board game, which is easy to learn, plays quickly and fun, and the design and content of some (all!) attributes can in itself cause wild laughter from all those present. Destroying each other has never been so much fun.

This and many other games can be purchased online

“Epic Battles of Battle Magicians” is a unique board game of its kind. You have to not only learn the true truth about how the battle of magicians takes place, but also become a full-fledged participant in the battle.

Forget about the other games that you have, because Mages will bewitch and captivate your consciousness and mind. We guarantee that you have never taken part in such outrage before.

Features of crazy game

“Battle on Skull Mountain” is special in its own way and has no equal. The style of the game, the illustrations, the dark humor, and partly sadism - this makes the game stand out among other card board games. If you want to experience new, unsurpassed emotions, while having a lot of fun, then you need to get to know battle mages better.

A storm awaits you... of emotions. A world filled with forbidden spells that you will learn and use against your enemies. The number of opponents can reach 6 characters, a real mess where only one can survive.

You have to create devastating spells so as not to leave a speck of dust behind your rivals. But you will have to try hard, because even after dying in a round, the player can prevent others from reaching the final.

Strange artifacts and crazy magic are waiting for you!)

One of the most interesting features of the board game Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Battle on Skull Mountain is its unusual and eye-catching illustrations.

Nick Edwards was involved in the development of the art, ultimately creating a real masterpiece, full of black humor and sarcasm. Perhaps the images alone are worth playing this “epic” game).

Sorcerers

The first thing you should pay attention to is the characters themselves, the sorcerers. There is a separate deck of cards with these heroes. To take a sorcerer card, you must wait until the chosen main character dies. After that, each turn is one card from the deck, which gives its advantages.

Mage wars is a game with almost no end, when you play for the second and subsequent times, dead sorcerers must be played and discarded.

What epic spells are there and how to cast them?

The game Battle of Magicians is not an easy game. Spells are of paramount importance in it. There are three main types, from which, with some luck, you can create powerful and unexpected combinations.

  • The ringleaders- add power to combat spells
  • bloat- adds spice to the game, you can create original troubles
  • Coming- a real explosive mixture

Schools of magic

Each card in Mage Wars refers to a school of magic of a certain type. This is indicated by signs:

  • frenzy– destruction of opponents by means of total incineration;
  • darkness– direct connection with dark rituals that are directed against rivals;
  • damage- your enemies will not have time to understand what happened to them;
  • Kumar– direct your anger purposefully;
  • grass– heal yourself with the help of magic herbs and poison your enemies with them.

In this game, the winner must receive the maximum point value. 3 games are given for this. They can be obtained for killing or for medals from a half-killed sorcerer.

Winning is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. Kill your enemies and don't let them defeat you. The task is clear as hell.

Apply different tactics, try combinations, come up with the craziest combinations and confidently go to victory. In the end, only one sorcerer will remain, who will become the owner of the “Unfinished” medal. The game can be started over and over again, enter the battle and prove your magical power.

IN video review

Action heroes love to choose the most dangerous places for decisive fights: the edge of a waterfall, a working factory, a sinking ship. But for the coolest wizards of the Universe this is somehow petty. Therefore, sorcerers and necromancers prefer to find out who has the most lumpy fireballs on the slopes of the ominous Skullflame volcano. The most terrible spells recorded in ancient tomes are used. By the way, have you ever wondered why magic books are so big and heavy? Of course, to finish off failed magicians!

There are never enough “Munchkin” clones, thought Cryptozoic Entertainment, hired two designers of card games for Dungeons & Dragons and released “Epic Battles of Battle Magicians.” It was not possible to move the king of the gaming library from the throne, but the attempt was counted.

The catchy design of the box immediately attracts attention. The illustrations on the cards are both attractive and repulsive: this is what a Hieronymus Bosch cartoon on Nickelodeon would look like. Worms, severed limbs and gore are on almost every map here. This is definitely not worth giving to children for their birthday, but adults who love dark humor might like it. Unless, of course, they are afraid of games with a high influence of chance. It's going to be hot on Skullfire Mountain: the core mechanics of Epic Showdowns hit hapless wizards over the heads harder than the traps in Dungeon Raiders and the oars in Overboard.

Being a dark mage is fun. The spell constructor allows you to build combinations of three cards - Ringleader (the great magician of the past who shares his power), Twist (an additional effect) and Arrival (the final chord). From these three components you can create any spell - to heal yourself at the right moment, collect more treasures, or show your friends who is the best here. Some spells affect only neighbors, others - the strongest or weakest character, and others choose a victim at random. There are also treasure maps that add additional lethality to magic, allow you to manipulate initiative, and more. To get the Medal of the Unfinished Sorcerer, you will have to think through effective combinations one move ahead.

The power of Parish cards, among other things, depends on the dice roll. If all parts of the spell include magic of the same school, there will be as many as three (or even four) dice, the illustrations on the cards will merge together, and the enemies will certainly be in trouble. There are only five schools, but it is not always profitable to collect a “one-color” spell. For example, the shots of the Drunken Walker become even more dangerous in the company of the Twist of Grass magic and the Coming of Corruption spells.

The game is free from many of the shortcomings of the same “Munchkin”. While in Steve Jackson's game the road to level ten lasted for half a day, on Skull Mountain you only need two rounds to be the last living sorcerer to win. Players who lag behind the leader can close the gap in one card draw; those who dropped out of the race within 5–10 minutes replenish their life points and compete for the next Lost Sorcerer Medal. In addition, defeated mages each turn receive powerful spells from a separate deck that will help them in the next showdown.

“Epic battles of battle magicians” force you to choose between speed and lethality every time. The most powerful spells have low initiative, so think about what comes first: your turn or meeting the gravedigger. The final moves are often very dramatic and similar to duels in Westerns. Calculation, patience and luck allow us to live up to them. And the one who gets the revolver first wins.

Bottom line: this dynamic and very aggressive game for a group, unlike most other party games, allows you to plan your actions one step ahead. But the controversial design and the high role of chance may scare off some players.

Welcome to the world of mind-blowing magic! There is no place for your stupid tricks, our magic is crushing, perverted and deadly! The Kingdom of Bloodbath was not always like this, once this world was the most ordinary run-down village, and we led an ordinary life with these family values, morals and other bullshit... until Uncle Eddie appeared and, out of boredom, turned everything upside down on your head!

No one knows how he did it, but he filled the world with monstrous magic and many of us gained access to the most destructive and terrible spells in the universe. Then the uncle arranged a tournament, but not a simple one, but to the death! Or life? In general, it’s still impossible to die here now; your uncle’s black magic will resurrect you back every time, only so that you can die one more time. And what, you ask, is there to do here in such conditions? The answer is obvious - by destroying, burning, tearing and much more of your opponents, that is, other battle magicians! Now this is our entertainment and the meaning of life!

About the game

"Epic Battles of Battle Mages: Battle on Skull Mountain" is a unique style card game for creating combinations of spells. The game is filled with dark humor and stunning illustrations by Nick Edwards with emphasized sadism and grotesque cruelty. The game is compact and easy to learn, but at the same time it will give you a lot of emotions and real excitement! You've never seen games like this before, that's for sure!

Destructive and disgusting spells, prohibited for use throughout the universe, await you... But not here! We don't care about prohibitions - all we need is to turn all our opponents into dust... And if possible, then into something worse! Death is too generous and magicians cannot die completely... They are imprisoned in a place like Hell, where they will die thousands of times, only to cast spells more powerful than the one that tore them to shreds the previous time, in the hope that someday this will end...

From 2 to 6 players will be able to compete in this epic battle. The stunning design and style of the game should already show you what to expect from the game. Players will combine cards to create deadly spells, collect powerful artifacts, and use dangerous Crazy magic. And even if you were unlucky in the round, and you died a little, then even from the other world you can participate in the party, interfering with the magicians who are still alive!

Game process

Each player takes on the role of one of the magicians and takes his tablet, which is needed to indicate the remaining hit points. Everyone starts with 20 points. The cards of ringleaders, bells and whistles, arrivals and crazy magic are in one deck and thoroughly mixed. Players take turns, but draw cards and collect spells at the same time. The game consists of several games, and the game consists of various phases of the move. Let's figure it out:

  • Drawing cards - at the very beginning of the turn, we always draw up to 8 cards into our hand
  • We cast a spell - your spell can include from one to three cards, and there are three types of cards: The ringleader, who starts the spell and gives a certain advantage; A twist that offers an extra pinch of uniqueness and pain, as well as the Arrival - the final killer chord of your magic. A spell can include only one card of each type, but they can be combined with each other as you like
  • Place a Spell - Your battle-ready spell is placed face down on the table in front of you. We are waiting for the rest of the wizards...
  • Determining the turn order - it's time to determine the order of casting our spells. And the wizard will be the first to cast a spell... with the shortest spell! After all, this is logical, the shorter it is, the faster you will use it! If the players have the same number of cards in the spell, then the Initiative number on the spell's Arrival card will help decide who to go first - the player with the maximum value goes first. What to do if there is no Parish? Consider that your Initiative is zero... And if this doesn’t help you decide on your move, then just roll the dice
  • Revealing the spell - when the turn has finally reached you, you should turn over the cards of the prepared spell and read out the resulting name with the most epically magical expression that you are capable of. You could even come up with a punishment for those who forget to do this and just move on to card effects. If a spell is missing a card, then well, use your imagination and come up with a name!
  • We apply all the effects of the spell - the effects of the cards are applied in order, as the cards are laid out - first the Ringleader, then the Twist and then the Arrival. If a card requires you to make a Mighty Throw, you will need to roll one die for each card in the spell with that sign. There are five signs in total, that is, schools of magic: Corruption, Darkness, Frenzy, Kumar, Grass. All mages, in their order, apply card effects and damage each other
  • Start of a new round, provided that at least two magicians are still alive

Who has won?

The player who scores the most points over three games wins. Points are awarded for killing magicians, as well as for the medal of the unfinished sorcerer.

“Epic Battles of Battle Magicians” is a board game for those who want to have a great quarrel with relatives and friends, but at the same time smash them to smithereens. But it is not exactly.

To say that I am new to the world of board games is an understatement. Of the board games, I only played a couple of obligatory games like Bang! and Uno, yes. What attracted me to the game? Just the pictures on the box " Epic battles between battle mages. Mayhem in the Castle of Octopus Slaughter!"has already sparked my interest because it reminds me of the well-known and beloved Adventure Time. To add variety to my measured family life, I forced a young man to play as a couple, who also can only boast of experience in playing Uno and Monopoly. And, suddenly, we really liked it!

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN

There are a total of 8 hero boards in this version of the game (which, by the way, can easily be mixed with the first set of “Epic Showdowns: Battle of Skullflame Mountain”). Separately, my boyfriend noted the dragon lord - Sun Huchai, and I fell in love with the furry wizard - Sir Cat Murrrchington. Yes, this game is strictly 18+, so if you are younger, then stop reading this immediately and forget everything! Better yet, go to another city!

In general, you choose the one that sounds more pleasant, and throw all the cards of the “ringleaders”, “bells and whistles” and “profits” together. With their help you can create magic. Each card is also tied to a specific school of magic, which helps create even more powerful combinations.

Ideally, you need to combine three cards together and read them in a special way - then we will have the biggest “bang!”, but the player with fewer cards will be able to go first. In this case, the magicians prepare spells in secret from each other, and then reveal themselves. It’s not for nothing that the game also has “crazy magic” cards - to replace one of them with the card that you lack for an ultra-wild spell. When you lay out such a card, you boldly reach for the deck with spells and open them until you meet the one and only one - i.e. card of the type that was replaced by “stray magic”.

There is also “treasure” - a powerful thing that comes to you from the effects of some spell cards. When a treasure falls into your clutches, you must open it for all players to make everyone's mouth water. Treasures are never handled. And, of course, they can be recaptured by greedy sorceresses, so keep your eyes peeled.

Of course, this cannot be done without deaths, but if dear friends have killed your sorcerer, this does not mean that you drop out and go to smoke on the balcony. When the sorcerer has played the box, he discards cards from his hand, then treasures, and then takes a card from the deck of dead sorcerers. In this game, death is not a reason to end it.

Where would a magician be without a castle? There are cards that give additional bonuses to the one who conquered the castle. And also the castle itself brings a liter of blood, which you need so much to enhance the effects of spells.

Unexpected people. Yes, yes, where would we be without such cards? This is what you do before you let out... No, that's not what you thought! Give up the ghost. If among the cards of your spell cards that you did not have time to use before dying, there is the word “unexpected”, then you apply the effect described after this word. Thanks to such “unexpected people”, even the most wretched sorceress will be avenged.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF GAME – TOURNAMENT AND SHORT TOURNAMENT

The tournament is a long, epic battle. At the end of each game, the survivor receives the “unfinished sorcerer” medal. Having collected two such medals, the sorcerer wins the tournament. This, however, can take a lot of time.

A short tournament is an alternative version of the game, which is suitable for a company of 5-6 players. It consists of three games, and instead of “unfinished sorcerer” medals, players receive points for killed enemies and their own coolness. After the games are over, the scores are compared and the sorcerer with the highest score wins.

IMPRESSION

Firstly, no matter how awesome your strategy is, no matter how quickly and tenaciously you capture the castle, no matter how brilliant your plan is, your next move may be your last. But even here the game doesn’t end, because you get a dead magician card and continue to burn out. Secondly, the names of the characters are really funny. Third, the spells you cast. Seriously, when else will you get a chance to cast Feyhanal Witcher from Furious Schooltron? Fourthly, the atmosphere is epic. Incredibly epic! Fifthly, however, the game can drag on, especially if there are more than three players.

It doesn’t matter how bad or good you are at playing board games - detailed instructions and keen interest will help you quickly understand all the intricacies and fall in love with the game.

The point of all this mayhem is to turn your enemies into puddles of goo (or worse) as often as possible and find out who is the baddest.

CAUTION, PAIN IN THE ABDOMINAL FROM LAUGHING IS POSSIBLE! LONG GAME IS ADDICTIVE!!!

In general, we warned you. We are very grateful to Hobby World for providing us with the box of happiness for review!
