All pilots know that the main thing in aerial combat is a good overview, which allows you to detect both the enemy and your teammate in time. Two against one is a technique that may not be the most honest, but extremely effective. Try as much as possible to come to the rescue when your comrade enters into battle with the enemy. Such an ally in the future may well become your friend and constant partner.

If you detect the enemy in time, his attack will not be unexpected, which will allow you to make defensive maneuvers on planes in time and launch a counterattack. When you spot the enemy before he detects you, you can be the first to attack, climbing to attack from above or approaching from below to fire from the “dead zone.” The enemy, who is taken by surprise, is lost in the first seconds of the battle, trying to detect the attacking aircraft.

Important! The most likely places from which the enemy can attack: from behind from above, from behind to the right and from behind to the left.

More attention should be paid to the side from which a potential enemy may appear - especially if you are flying past an enemy airfield. To improve visibility, it is recommended to periodically make turns - this will prevent the enemy from sneaking up unnoticed. An equally important component of success is height. Before the start of the battle, try to climb higher than the enemy, especially if you are dealing with a fighter. By gaining speed during a dive attack, you can quickly go back up, becoming out of reach.

Tank combat tactics in War Thunder

As stated above, the first player to arrive at the capture point will be on a medium tank. Heavy tanks arrive later and suppress enemy equipment with gun fire, preventing them from approaching the point. After defeating the first wave of TTs, you should advance further, moving the front line closer to the enemy base. In theory, everything is simple, but in practice, a randomly selected team does not always manage to achieve mutual understanding and synchronize their own actions.

Remember! The key to the success of this tactic is the gradual shift of the front line in all directions simultaneously.

You should monitor not only enemy equipment, but also your allies. If few cars have gone in a certain direction, give a command in the chat to call reinforcements there. Of course, not all players will agree to follow the commands of a random teammate, but 2-3 tanks will definitely go there. The reason lies in human psychology: most players do not show initiative, but willingly obey orders if someone takes on the role of commander.

You should adequately evaluate your own equipment and not rush into battle against a tank at a higher level. Before the start of the battle, you should choose the right setup: armor. weapons, shells and everything else. The same is true for an airplane: knowledge of the features that each model has is the key to survival in battle.

You shouldn’t “rat”, haphazardly catching lonely frags on the map. You can improve your own statistics in this way, but if every member of the team does this, it will inevitably lose. It is also not recommended to camp while shooting at enemy vehicles passing by. Experienced players are well aware of all the campers’ favorite spots and will cover you there with heavy fire without any problems.

• Shells that do not contain explosives (sub-caliber and armor-piercing) can penetrate a small layer of earth, the wall of a wooden house, a bush, a tree, a fence and other objects in the game world. In this way you can reach an enemy who is trying to hide.
• Cumulative and high-explosive projectiles detonate upon contact with a surface. You can throw ammunition under the enemy's bottom, but this is difficult, given the trajectory of its flight: you have to calculate the correct angle. This technique is most effective against German technology.

Beginners should understand that the enemy adjusts the shooting using the lead marker. Even using the best fighter produced in the USSR, you will become an easy prey if your behavior is predictable and your trajectory differs little from a straight line. An excellent maneuver in combat - scissors!

The enemy is on your tail, figuratively, of course, and is about to attack. It would seem that collapse is inevitable, but no. There is a great technique for throwing your opponent off your tail - it is called "scissors". It was invented by World War II pilots. So what should you do in this case?

The plane should be braked sharply, that is, the speed should be reduced, thereby allowing the pursuing plane to move forward. How to brake? We use two elements for braking - the combat elements are closed and the thrust is released. Next, we do this: we lie down on the right wing, and then go into a half-turn (discussed in the first part). Now comes the completion of the coup with a half-turn. Thus, the pilot can not only throw off his tail, but also open up the possibility of attacking the enemy!

Tar Barrel

The “Barrel” aerobatics figure, which was already mentioned in the guide “Var Thunder Tactics - Aerobatics”, serves as a very good weapon if used correctly. The tank is perfect for both attack and defense.

Execution boils down to the following. At a speed of about 400 km/h, it is necessary to spin the plane horizontally in any direction. Remember, do not spin the barrel for too long, as it will affect the pilot's well-being and he may become engulfed in red fog. Also, we should not forget that the left roll is more difficult to perform than the right roll due to the direction of rotation of the aircraft propeller.

On an airplane with a short wingspan, the roll will be much easier to perform. By the way, if you know some points about the performance of this aerobatic maneuver, then the barrel turns into a serious weapon, and not just a beautiful trick. When you lift the nose of the plane up a little, using the steering wheel, you get a completely different element called the “hull”. It looks like a barrel, but in appearance, the plane goes in an upward spiral - that is, it is screwed into the sky, like a corkscrew into a bottle of wine. For the reel, the pitch control should be moved to the extreme position (any) and immediately begin turning the aircraft. This way you can avoid precise targeting of enemy weapons.

By the way, to change positions from victim to attacker, you can do the following. The barrel roll is complemented by braking or sliding maneuvers. To let the enemy forward you need to do this. At a sufficient distance for maneuver, we sharply slow down, describe the reel and exit it “upside down”. The result is this: the enemy rushes forward, and the player takes aim, hovering directly above him. Then everything is in the hands of the pilot!

Flip flop

In war there is no way to do without sudden movements and risks. Aviation is no exception. The sharp turn was given the name of one pilot: Immelmann. It (the maneuver) has also been written about before, so we will describe its essence briefly and consider its application in more detail. The idea is to gain altitude sharply and then return to a horizontal position.

What is the practical value of this maneuver? The Immelman turn helps change the pursuit position to a head-on position. Thus, the player’s plane is significantly higher than the enemy’s and there is an opportunity for an attack or more free maneuvering.

A combat turn allows the pilot to gain altitude while changing direction and at the same time not losing much speed. Yes it is possible! To perform, the speed must be about 350 km/h. The plane rolls on either wing, simultaneously lifting the nose up. When you gain altitude, don't hesitate to throttle. Then the plane is leveled in the horizontal plane and receives almost the same speed and attack capability.

A frontal attack is extremely dangerous!

Why is a head-on attack so dangerous? Yes, because losses cannot be avoided either by the enemy or the player. How to proceed in this case? The best decision is to avoid such situations. But if you still had to go head-on, the following tips will help.

When you and an enemy plane are rushing towards each other at high speed, it is very important to monitor the distance to the enemy, since only from a certain distance can you start shooting. Aircraft in War Thunder only hit within a kilometer of the distance between aircraft. It is best to approach 900 meters, and only then open fire.

Another tip - don't get too carried away when shooting at the enemy, but remember that you can also get shot by them! In the case of a frontal attack, you should definitely combine shooting and barreling to make it more difficult for the enemy to hit you. And one more thing: at a distance of about 300 meters from the enemy, it is better to stop the attack, especially if the enemy has not received serious damage. In this case, turn the cab down to avoid hitting it, and turn to the side and down. It is worth remembering that such maneuvers are performed only at a sufficient height!

Bombers

How to deal with such heavy opponents as bombers in War Thunder? Don't wait for him to get on your tail. It's best to start attacking him yourself. You need to try to fly above him and a little ahead. From this position it will be very easy to shoot out the enemy’s cockpit or just shoot at him.

Ammunition

The advice is this: practice aimed shooting on your plane. Then in battle it will be much easier to hit the enemy, taking into account the lead.

Thirdly, saving should be economical! You shouldn’t get caught up in the fire towards the enemy; it would be much better to reduce the distance to about three hundred meters and only then start firing. This is so because the enemy is likely to dodge your attacks. By the way, when chasing, it is better to aim not at the enemy’s tail, but slightly to the side.

Group pursuit

You have to be very careful in this type of air combat. If you see a single plane and crowds of planes rushing towards it, do not follow them under any circumstances. Better look for another target, otherwise, in the heat of fire, your allies will shoot off the wings of your plane.

Pursuit of one target together with an ally is also an interesting type of combat. You shouldn't do everything simultaneously. On the contrary, if the enemy goes into a turn, then you should split up - one flies after him, and the other goes around him and goes head-on. This is a very effective method of fighting!

The main thing is not to give up!

It is impossible to immediately learn and apply everything you have learned in flight. All skills come with experience. The main thing is to be determined and act. Fly, maneuver, shoot more accurately, perform dangerous turns, gain potential for growth and attacks.
