Game description

In the classic version, you need 2-6 players: each must have their own chip. Banker and Bank
5. One of the players is chosen as Banker. If there are more than 5 players in a game, the Banker may, at his discretion, limit himself to only that role in the game. The banker gives each player $1,500 in the following coupons:

A bank can never go bankrupt, but it can issue as much money as needed in the form of IOUs written on a regular piece of paper.
6. Players roll both dice. The one with the most points starts the game. The player to his left will be next, then the next one, and so on.

PROGRESS OF THE GAME
When it's your turn, roll both dice and move your piece forward along the board in the direction indicated by the arrow. The field you land on determines what you need to do. Several chips can be on one field at the same time. Depending on what field you find yourself on, you will have to:

  • buy plots for construction or other real estate;
  • pay rent if you are on Property owned by others;
  • pay taxes;
  • pull out the Chance or Treasury card;
  • end up in prison;
  • relax in the free parking lot;
  • receive a salary of $200

Same number of points on both dice
If you roll the dice and they both come up with the same number of points, move your piece and act according to the space you land on. You then have the right to roll the dice again. If you get the same number of points on both dice three times in a row, you immediately go to Prison

Passing the "START" field
Whenever you stop or pass through the "START" field, moving in the direction indicated by the arrow, the Bank pays you $200. You can get this amount twice in the same turn if, for example, you find yourself on the Chance or Treasury field, immediately after the “START” field, and pull out a card that says “Go to the “START” field.”
If you land on a space that represents an unoccupied Property (that is, a Building Lot for which no other player has a Title Deed), you will have first choice to purchase it. If you decide to buy Real Estate, pay the Bank the money in the amount indicated on this playing field. In exchange, you will receive a Document of Ownership of this Property, which you must place in front of you with the text facing up. If you decide not to buy this Property, the Banker must immediately put it up for auction and sell it to the highest bidder, starting from whatever price one of the players is willing to pay. Even though you refused to purchase the Property at the original price, you can take part in the auction.

Property Ownership
Owning a Property will give you the right to collect rent from any “tenants” who stay in the space that marks it. It is very profitable to own all the Real Estate of one color group - in other words, own a monopoly. If you own an entire color group, you can build houses on any Property of that color.

Stopping at someone else's Property
If you stop at a Property that was previously purchased by another player, you may be required to pay rent for that stop. The player who owns this Property must ask you to pay the rent before the next player rolls the dice. The amount payable is set out in the Title Deed for the Property and may vary depending on the number of buildings constructed thereon. If all the Properties of one color group are owned by one player, the rent you will be charged for stopping on any undeveloped property of that group is doubled. However, if the owner of an entire color group has at least one parcel of the Property in that group mortgaged, he cannot charge you double rent. If Houses and Hotels have been built on the Property plots, the rent will increase, which will be shown on the Title Deed for that Property. No rent will be charged for staying on the mortgaged Property.

Stop at the service enterprise field
If you settle on one of these fields (Water or Electric Company), you can buy this business if it has not already been purchased by anyone. As with the purchase of other Real Estate, pay the Bank the amount indicated in this field. If this Real Estate has already been purchased by someone else player, he can charge you rent according to the number of points that were rolled on the dice when you made the move that brought you to this field. If the other player owns only one of the Utilities, the rent will be four times the number of points that were rolled on dice. If he owns both businesses, you must pay him an amount equal to ten times the number of points rolled. Stop at the Sea Port
If you are the first to land on such a field, you will have the opportunity to purchase this port. Stop at the “Chance” and “Treasury” fields
Stopping on such a field means that you need to take the top card from the corresponding pile. These cards may require you to:

  • moved your piece;
  • paid money - for example taxes;
  • received money;
  • went to Prison;
  • released from prison free of charge.

You must immediately follow the instructions on the card and place the card on the bottom of the appropriate pile. If you pick up a card that says “Get Out of Jail Free,” you can keep it until you need it, or you can sell it to another player for a mutually agreed upon price.
Note: The card may indicate that you must move your piece to another space. If you pass through the “START” field while driving, you will receive $200. If you are sent to Prison, you do not go through the START box.

Stop at the Tax Field
If you choose such a field, you just need to pay the appropriate amount to the Bank.

Free parking.
If you land on such a field, simply rest until your next turn. You are here for free and are not subject to any penalties, you can enter into transactions as usual (for example, collect rent, build buildings on the Property you own, etc.).

Jail
You will be sent to prison if:

  • you will stop at the “You are under arrest” box, or
  • you took a Chance or Treasury card that says “Go to Jail”, or
  • you get the same number of points on both dice three times in a row in one turn.

Your turn ends when you are sent to Jail. If you end up in Jail, you cannot receive your $200 salary, no matter where you are on the board.
To get out of Prison, you need:

  • pay a $50 fine and continue playing when it's your turn, or buy a Get Out of Jail Free card from another player at a mutually agreed upon price and use it to get yourself free, or
  • use the Get Out of Jail Free card if you already have one, or
  • stay here, skipping your next three turns, but every time it comes to your turn, roll the dice and, if on one of these turns you get the same number of points, you can leave the Prison and go through the number of fields that falls on cubes.

After you have missed three turns while in Jail, you must leave the Jail and pay $50 before you can move your pawn the number of spaces rolled on the dice.
While in Prison, you may receive rent for your Property if it is not mortgaged. If you were not "sent to Jail" but simply stopped at the "Jail" space during the game, you do not pay any penalty since you "Just stopped in" for a while. On your next turn, you can move.

At home
Once you have all the Property lots in the same color group, you can buy Houses to place on any of your existing lots. This will increase the rent you can charge from tenants staying at your Property. The cost of the house (object) is shown on the corresponding Title Deed. You can buy houses during your turn or between other players' turns, but you must build your plots evenly: you cannot build a second house on any of the plots of the same color group until you have built one House on each of the plots of this color group, the third - until two have been built on each, and so on: the maximum number of Houses on one plot is four. Houses also need to be sold evenly. You can build up your objects only immediately before your turn, maximum - 3 houses (objects) per 1 turn. Without building Houses (objects), you can, however, receive double rent from any player staying on any of the undeveloped Property lots of your color group.

Hotels
Before you can buy Hotels, you need to have four Houses on each lot of a color group that you completely own. Hotels can be bought in the same way as Houses, but they cost four Houses, which are returned to the Bank, plus the price indicated in the Title Deed. Only one Hotel can be built on each site.

Lack of buildings
If there are no Houses left in the Bank, you will have to wait until one of the other players returns their Houses to him. Likewise, if you sell Hotels, you cannot replace them with Houses unless you have any extra Houses in the Bank.
If there are only a limited number of Houses or Hotels left in the Bank, and two or more players want to buy more buildings than the Bank has, the Banker auctions off the buildings to be sold to the highest bidder, taking the starting price the one indicated on the relevant Document of Ownership.

Property For Sale
You can sell undeveloped Lots, Ports and Service Enterprises to any player by entering into a private transaction with him for an amount agreed upon between you. However, you cannot sell a Plot to another player if there are any buildings on any other Plot of the same color group. If you want to sell any Lot of a color group that belongs to you, you first need to sell to the Bank all the buildings located on the Lots of this color group. Homes should be sold evenly, just as they were bought. (see “At Home” item above).
Houses and Hotels cannot be sold to other players. They should be sold to the Bank at a price two times less than that indicated in the relevant Document of Ownership. Buildings can be sold at any time.
When selling the Hotel, the Bank pays you half the cost of the four Houses that were given to the Bank when purchasing the Hotel. All Hotels of the same color group must be sold at the same time.
If necessary, in order for you to receive money, Hotels can be replaced with Houses again. To do this, you need to sell the Hotel to the Bank and receive in return four Houses plus half the cost of the Hotel itself.
Mortgaged Real Estate can only be sold to other players, but not to the Bank.

Pledge
If you have no money left, but need to pay off your debts, you can get money by mortgaging some Real Estate. To do this, first sell to the Bank any buildings located on this plot of Real Estate. In order to pledge the Real Estate, turn the Title Deed face down and receive from the bank the pledge amount indicated on the back of the card. If you later want to pay off your debt to the Bank, you will need to pay it this amount plus 10% on top.
If you mortgage any Property, it still belongs to you. No other player can obtain it by paying the deposit amount to the Bank.
You cannot collect rent on a mortgaged Property, although rent may still flow to you for other Properties in the same color group.
You can sell the pledged Property to other players at a price agreed upon with them. The buyer can then decide to pay off the debt taken on the security of this property by depositing the corresponding amount of the deposit plus 10% with the Bank. He can also pay only 10% and leave the Property as collateral. In this case, upon final removal of the collateral, you will have to pay another 10% to the Bank.
When none of the Lots of one color group are mortgaged anymore, their owner can begin to buy Houses again at full price.

Bankruptcy
If you owe the Bank or other players more money than you can collect from your assets, you are declared bankrupt and out of the game.
If you owe the Bank, the Bank receives all your money and Title Deeds. The Banker then auctions off each of the Properties to the highest bidder.
You must place the Get Out of Jail Free cards at the bottom of the appropriate pile.
If you become bankrupt due to debts to another player, your Houses and Hotels are sold to the Bank for half their original value, and your creditor receives all the money, Title Deeds, and Get Out of Jail Free cards you have. If you have any mortgaged Property, you must also transfer it to this player, he must immediately pay 10% on it to the Bank, and then decide whether he should immediately buy it back at full value or keep it as collateral.

Game Notes
If you owe more rent than the amount of cash you have, you can pay your lender partly in cash and partly in Real Estate (that is, undeveloped Building Lots). In this case, a lender may agree to accept a piece of Property (even if it is mortgaged) for a price much higher than what is listed on it, in an effort to obtain additional Construction Site or to prevent another player from establishing control over that Property.
If you own any Property, the responsibility to collect rent rests with you.
Money can be given in the form of a loan only by the Bank and only on the security of the Real Estate.
Neither player can borrow money from or lend money to another player.
For using another player's piece during your turn, you must pay a fine of $50.
You are required to pay a fine of $50 in case of an extraordinary move when you moved instead of another player.

Preparing for the game

4. Banker and Bank

One of the players is chosen to play the role of Banker. The banker gives each player money in the amount of 1500 units. with the following bills:

The bank cannot go bankrupt. If all the money in the Bank has run out, then you can make the required amount of money yourself from ordinary paper in the form of promissory notes.

5. To determine who will go first, each player rolls both dice before starting the game. The player with the most points goes first, and then the turn goes to the player to his left.

Rules of the game

When it comes to your turn, roll both dice and move your piece clockwise around the playing field. The field you land on will determine your further actions. Two or more chips can be on the same field at the same time. Depending on the field you are on, you can do one of the following:

§ buy Possession or other property

§ pay rent (if you entered a field that is already someone else’s property)

§ pay taxes

§ pull out the “Chance” or “Total Treasury” card

§ go to Prison

§ stop at the “Free Parking” field

§ receive a salary of 200 units.

§ go to the Prison only “as a visitor”

Dropping out takes

If you have the same number of points on two dice (a double), then you must move your piece and make your move as usual. Then roll the dice again and take another extra turn. If you get three doubles in a row, you will go to Prison.

Passing through the “Go” field

Every time you stop at the “Go” field or pass by it in the direction of the arrow, the Bank pays you a salary of 200 units. You can get 200 units twice. in one move. For example, this will happen if you get to the “Chance” or “Total Treasury” field immediately after the “Go” field and take a card that says “Advance to Go” (“Move to the “Go” field).

Purchasing property

If you land on a field with property that does not belong to anyone (that is, property for which no player has an Owner card), you have the right to be the first to buy it. There are three types of property in the game - Ownership, Utility Enterprise and Railway Station. If you decide to buy a property, deposit the amount of money indicated on the field into the Bank. Ownership of property

Owning a property gives you the right to collect rent from all players whose chips end up on the corresponding field. A big advantage over other players is having all the Domains of the same color, i.e. owning a monopoly. You can build on any Property that is part of a group of a certain color that you own.

Stop at Possession

If you are staying on a Property that has already been purchased by another player, you may be asked to pay rent for staying on that Property. The owner can only demand rent from you before the next player behind you rolls the dice. The rent for staying on a Hold is shown on the Owner's card and may vary depending on the number of buildings built on the Hold. If all the Domains of the same color are owned by the same player, then the rent for staying on any of the Domains of that group that has not yet built buildings is doubled.

However, if any Possession is mortgaged, then the owner of the entire group of Possessions of the same color cannot collect double payment. If Houses or a Hotel are built on the Property, the rent will be increased in accordance with the amount indicated on the Owner's card for this Property. There is no charge for being on the mortgaged Property.

Stop at Utilities

If you land on a field with a Utility Company that has not yet been purchased by other players, you can buy it. As with other types of property, you must pay the Bank the price indicated in the Utility Company field. If the Utility is already owned by another player, you may be asked to pay rent. This fee is determined by the number of points on the die that landed you on the Utility board.

If the owner has only one Utility, the fee will be four times the number of points rolled on the die. If both Utilities are owned by the same player, then you must pay ten times the number of points on the die.

If you decide not to purchase the Utility, the Banker will hold an auction and the Utility will go to the highest bidder. You can also take part in the auction.

Stop at Railway Stations

If you got to the Railway Station first, then you have the opportunity to buy it. Otherwise, the Banker will organize an auction. Although you refused to buy the Railway Station at the original price, you can participate in the auction along with other players. If the Railway Station you find yourself in is already the property of another player, then you must pay him the amount indicated on the Owner card. The size of the fee is determined by how many other Railway stations the owner of the Railway station you are in has.

Stop at the fields “Chance” or “Total Treasury”

If you land on one of these fields, then you must take the top card from the corresponding pile. These cards may include the following:

§ Move the piece

§ Pay money, for example in the form of taxes

§ Get money

§ Go to Prison

§ Leave Prison for free

You must perform the action written on the card and then place that card at the very bottom of the pile. If you drew a “Get Out of Jail Free” card, you can keep it until you want to use it. You can also sell this card at a price that you agree on with other participants.

Stopping at the “Free Parking” field

Jail

You will be sent to Prison in the following cases:

§ If you stop at the “Go to Jail” field

When you are sent to Prison, your turn ends. You also cannot receive a salary of 200 units. no matter which field you choose.

You can leave the Prison as follows:

After you have spent three turns in the Prison, you must leave the Prison by paying a fine of 50 units. before you move your chip according to the number of points rolled.

While in the Prison, you can charge other players rent for the use of your property, if it is not mortgaged.

If you were not sent to Prison, but during the game you stopped on the “Prison” field, then it is considered that you simply enter the Prison “as a visitor” and do not pay any fines. When the next move comes to you, you can continue the game.

At home

After you buy up all the Domains of the same color, you can buy Houses and install them on any of these Domains. At the same time, the rent that you charge from players staying on the Properties you own increases.

The price of the House is indicated in the corresponding Owner's card. You can buy a House on your turn or between other players' turns. Remember that you must build evenly, i.e. you cannot build a second House on any Property of the same color group until you have built one House on each Property of that group. This rule applies to any number of Houses up to the maximum possible: four Houses on one Property. The sale of the House must also be carried out evenly in accordance with the above rule.

You can buy and sell Houses at any time and in any quantity, as much as your financial condition allows. You cannot build a House on a Property if any Property from the same color group is mortgaged. If you own all the Domains of one color group, and you have built a House on only one or two of the Domains, then you can still receive double payment from other players staying on your Domains from that color group (even if there is nothing on them not built).

Hotel

Before you can buy a Hotel, you must build four Houses on each Property of that color group. A hotel is bought in the same way as a house. For one Hotel you must pay four Houses, which are returned to the Bank, and the price indicated on the Owner's card for the Hotel. Only one Hotel can be built on one Property.

Shortage of Houses

If there are no more Houses left in the Bank, then before you buy a House, you must wait until other players return their Houses to the Bank. Likewise, you cannot receive Houses instead of a Hotel if there are none left in the Bank.

If there are a limited number of Houses or Hotels left in the Bank, and two or more players want to buy more of them than are left in the Bank, then the Banker will hold an auction and these buildings will go to the highest bidder.

The starting price at the auction is the price indicated in the corresponding card of the Owner.

Selling property

You can sell a Property without buildings, a Railway Station and a Utility Plant to any player, receiving a pre-agreed amount of money from him. However, you cannot sell a Possession to another player if there is a building on at least one Possession of the same color group. If you want to sell a Possession that is part of a certain color group, then first you must sell to the Bank all the buildings on all the Possessions of this group.

Houses should be sold evenly, similar to the buying rule (see the “Houses” section). You cannot sell Houses and Hotel to other players. They must be sold to the Bank for half the price indicated on the relevant Owner's card. You can sell your House or Hotel at any time.

For the Hotel, the Bank will pay you half the cost of the Hotel plus half the cost of the Houses that you handed over to the Bank when purchasing this Hotel. All Hotels from the same color group can be sold at the same time. If necessary, the Hotel can be divided again into Houses. To do this, you need to sell the Hotel to the Bank and receive in return four Houses, as well as money for the Hotel (i.e., half of their cost). You cannot sell pledged property to the Bank, but you can sell it to other players.

Pledge

If you have no money left, but you need to pay debts, then you can get a certain amount of money by mortgaging the property. If you mortgage a Property, you must first sell all the buildings to the Bank. When mortgaging property, turn the Owner's card face down and receive from the Bank the amount of money indicated on the back of the card. If you want to buy back your property, you will have to pay this amount plus 10%.

If you mortgage the property, it remains in your possession. Other players cannot buy this property by paying the mortgage price to the Bank.

You cannot receive rent on a mortgaged property. However, you may still receive payment for other properties in the same color group. You can sell the mortgaged property to other players at a pre-agreed price.

The player can then redeem the mortgage by paying the Bank the mortgage amount plus 10%. If this is not done, the player must pay the Bank 10% when purchasing this property, and later, when he decides to buy out the mortgage, he will have to pay the Bank the cost

mortgage and an additional 10%.

When all the Properties of one color group are no longer mortgaged, the owner can begin to buy Houses again at the appropriate price.

Bankruptcy

If you owe the Bank or another player an amount that exceeds the total amount of funds that you can receive by selling your property, you are declared bankrupt and leave the game.

If you owe money to the Bank, then the Bank receives all your cash and all the Owner's cards. The Bank then sells all this property piece by piece at auction.

If you are declared bankrupt, you must return the Get Out of Jail Free cards, placing them at the bottom of the appropriate pile.

If you become bankrupt in debt to another player, then your Houses and Hotels are sold to the Bank for half their original value, and that player receives your cash, Owner cards and “Get Out of Jail Free” cards. If you have any mortgaged property left, you must also transfer it to this player. In this case, he must pay 10% of its value, and then decide whether he wants to keep the mortgage or buy the property.

Notes on the game

If you do not have enough cash to pay the rent, you can pay your lender part of the amount in cash and part of the amount in the property you own (provided there are no buildings on the property). In this case, a creditor may accept a certain property (even if it is mortgaged) for a price significantly higher than that shown on the Owner card in order to obtain additional property or prevent another player from gaining control of it.

Control over the collection of rent should be exercised directly by the property owner himself.

The player can borrow money only from the Bank and only on the security of his property. Players cannot lend each other money.

Winner

The last participant remaining in the game is the winner.

Short game rules

There are three differences in the rules of the short game compared to the rules of the regular game:

1. During preparation for the game, the Banker shuffles the Owner's cards. Then the player sitting to the left of the Banker removes the deck, and the latter distributes one Owner card twice in a circle to the players. If the Banker is also an ordinary player, then he deals the Owner’s cards to himself. Players who receive Owner cards must immediately pay the Bank the stated price for both Owner cards received.

2. In the shortened game, you must build only three Houses (instead of four) on each Property of the color group before you can buy a Hotel.

The rent remains the same as in the standard game.

When you sell a Hotel, the proceeds are half the original cost, which is one less House in this version of the game than in the normal game.

3. Game over. The first player to go bankrupt is out of the game, just like in a standard game. When the second player also goes bankrupt, the game ends. A player who becomes bankrupt transfers everything he owns to his creditor (the Bank or another player), including buildings and other property.

Then each of the remaining participants in the game adds up the following:

1. Cash on hand.

Taxes.

Taxes must be paid if your chip lands on a section of the field with this task or if you are standing on someone else's property.

Field "Chance", "Treasury".

If you stand on one of these fields, you are given one card, the task of which is either to pay taxes, or receive money, and much more. The task on the card must be completed immediately.

Credit.

If you have little or no money, you don’t have to sell the property, you can simply mortgage it. In this case, you will receive exactly 50% of the amount for which the property was purchased. If you buy it back, you give the bank the initial amount plus 10%.

While the property is in the bank, it is still yours and no one will buy it, nor is it possible to sell it.

While the property is mortgaged, other participants whose property is located on your site do not pay taxes on it.

Bankruptcy.

A player who goes bankrupt loses.

All real estate is transferred to the bank for debts. Your money also goes to the bank.

If you go bankrupt due to debts to a rival, then the property is transferred to the bank and the bank returns the debt.

If the owner of the cell has purchased the entire group, then he can demand double the rent on any undeveloped plot.

Hotels or houses increase rents significantly. However, if the property has been mortgaged, then no rent can be charged. At the same time, the rules of “Classic Monopoly” allow players to agree on whether rent will be paid: the owner, if desired, may not charge it.

Utilities

The game has the opportunity to purchase a utility company if it does not belong to anyone. In order to purchase such real estate, you must pay the specified amount. The property is purchased from the Bank. If the property belongs to another player, then the rent must be paid. The amount of rent is directly proportional to the number of points rolled on the dice. If the number of buyers exceeds the number of cards, then an auction is held and the card goes to the highest bidder. The starting price is based on the cost of the house, which is indicated on the card.

Property For Sale

The game provides the ability to sell undeveloped plots, utilities and railway stations. In this case, the transaction amounts are determined by agreement between the players. According to the rules, you cannot sell the plot on which the houses are built to other participants in the game. First, you should sell all the buildings, provided that the entire group is evenly built, and only after that a deal can be made between the players. Houses and hotels are sold to the Bank at half the price indicated on the card. Real estate previously pledged by players can be sold exclusively to other Monopoly participants, but not to the Bank.

Pledge

If there is no cash to pay taxes, you can pledge any real estate to the Bank. To do this, you must sell all the buildings from the cell to the Bank. The amount provided by the Bank as collateral is equal to that indicated on the card. When paying the deposit, the player must pay an amount exceeding that issued by the Bank by 10%. Pledging real estate does not take away your ownership rights; other players cannot purchase it from the Bank.

Mortgaged real estate does not bring profit to the owner. However, all other buildings of this and other groups do not have such restrictions.

The owner of the mortgaged property can sell it at an agreed price to another Monopoly participant. After acquisition, in order to make a profit from the property or carry out construction, the new owner must pay the debt with interest.

Bankruptcy in the game

Bankruptcy in the game means the elimination of one of the participants. The rules of the Monopoly game allow you to assign bankruptcy status to a player who owes the players or the Bank an amount exceeding his assets.

If, in the event of bankruptcy, a player owes money to the Bank, then he appropriates all the Title Deeds and can then sell the property through an auction.
