Boss of the location

Go right, up the mountain and watch out for the rats that will suddenly appear in the room (destroy their lair so that there are not too many rats). Go upstairs (near the stairs there is a Talisman of the Saints). You can unlock the bars on the right, and thus avoid trouble when you jump down in the future. On the left side is Irina. Talk to her (let her touch you) to receive a prayer gesture. End the conversation and she will go to the Cleansing Chapel.

Remember: When you are directly in front of the place where you will meet Irina, look up. There is a corpse there that you can shoot down (or use a fire bomb). It contains a Sacred Red and White Shield +1.

Return to the pit if you want to explore this area a bit. Watch out for two opponents at the crossroads. Turn left and run after the crystal lizard appears - if you kill it, you will receive a Heavy Gem. Also, note the double titanite shard.

Use the corridor that goes under the stone bridge. Look out for skeletons that are created from scattered bones (try to quickly attack before they come together). Walk forward and you will find the Soul of the Unknown Traveler, Halberd and Loincloth, next to the statue. The door can be opened from the other side, and this is another way through which you can get into the pit.

You need Mortician Ash. To find it, go to the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire, in the direction where the cemetery is (there are graves on the left side). Watch out for projectiles (if you talked to the cathedral giant, you'll be safe). Face the tree with the mark on it (at the front of the building), and turn left. The item you are looking for is not far from here, between the graves. Take it to the maid in Firelink Shrine and buy the Grave Key for 1500 souls (it will be added to your inventory once you extract the ashes).

Now that you have the key, go into the dungeons. Enter the previously described area full of enemies (if you unlocked the shortcut before this, the other entrance is behind the stone bridge, opposite the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire). Use the key to open the grate. The process of learning the bottom of the layout is the same.

Once you've explored the entire area, go to the arena and prepare to fight the Cursed Great Tree boss. After you deal with him, return to the elevator in the cathedral and use it to reach the bottom. The exit will lead you to the Path of Sacrifices location.
