In this chapter, you will find tips for new players and some tips to use as you play.

At the beginning of the game, try to select those orders that do not require diagnostics (list of available parts).
If you want to make quick progress in the story mode and get levels, then follow simple orders: replacement of the exhaust and brake systems, oil and filter changes. You will earn almost as much experience and money as from complex orders (engine / suspension).
Don't be discouraged if you can't find the broken part you need to complete your order. Additional orders can be canceled at any time (however, the car must be intact, for example, with parts that you have already removed from it) and if you have problems with a storyline order, you can read its passage on our website.
All items in your inventory marked in red must be sold immediately. They will not help you and they can no longer be repaired. They take up space and will distract you from car repairs.
If you want to make your workshop more convenient, then you need to upgrade your tablet. This allows you to order spare parts without using your computer. If you press T, you can buy parts during the renovation, which eliminates the use of notes.
When visiting barns while looking for old cars, be sure to search them very carefully. You will not be able to return to this barn, and new ones will only be available upon reaching a new level. There you can find valuable parts in good condition, but do not collect everything you see (in fact, pay for the garbage that will be impossible to repair).

The game has a trick (at least in version 1.0.5) with which you can easily learn some details by moving the camera in a certain way. Aim it so that the edge of the screen goes over the part. This way you can see how the elements below it look (the object becomes transparent).

Interface

There will be several icons in the upper right corner. They show: the current level, the amount of experience that you currently have, how much experience you need to get a new level, the number of orders available and the amount of money.

Quick menu

This menu is used for the basic actions you perform in the workshop: loading new orders, checking your inventory, using your tablet as a shop (after unlocking this feature), using notes, or saving / loading a game.

However, when standing next to a vehicle, you can view the repair status for a specific vehicle instead of downloading orders. If you use the icon below, you can move the car in the garage. When you click on parts, you select other additional parameters from the menu, such as: diagnostics using a tool (meter), putting on / taking off mode or exam mode.

Orders

Orders in Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 loaded using the quick menu (green headphone icon), but you cannot stand next to the car (when you do this, the icon is different and allows you to check the repairs performed on a specific car) or you can click on the phone that is on the table.

There is no limit to the number of orders that you can take at one time in the game. You just need to have enough space in the garage for a new car - you can move it to another location and take a new order. They can appear and disappear at certain times. Some orders that are on the list have bonuses (very rarely) to earn money or experience. Typically, the bonus is around 30% of the base amount you can earn. In the order summary, you can check information about the vehicle, money, diagnosed or replaced parts.

For completing the order, the character receives experience and money. In most cases, the amount of experience gained is almost always the same, but the amount of money can vary. It depends on the number of replaced parts and the level of complexity of the repair, the uniqueness of the given car and how much your managerial experience helped to save on parts (depends on the use of parts left over from other repairs and on the repair of those that were broken).

Additional Information:

The car can be returned to the owner at any time (in full condition), if you do not want to repair it anymore - for this you will receive a percentage of the full part that you could earn for repairing the car (does not apply to story orders). In doing so, you will not gain experience if you do not complete the repair. You don't need to use brand new parts to repair your car. However, parts must have a higher percentage than those indicated in the order description.
If you do not have a lot of diagnostic tools, then opt for repairing new cars or cars that require almost new parts to be repaired. The rest of the spare parts in these machines are very clean and working, so you can tell by eye whether there is a breakdown here or not.
In the early stages of the game, some cars are diagnosed partially or completely. Information about the list of parts to be repaired is shown in parentheses in the description of the defective parts. Damaged parts are also visible in "exploration mode" and are marked in red. Warning - story orders cannot be completed prematurely. To avoid disappointment, I advise you to read the passage of story missions on our website.

Experience points

Experience is the most important element in the game. He is responsible for your progress, allows you to purchase abilities and upgrades for the workshop, which in turn gives access to new options and orders. Each part supplied or removed gives you +1 point (this does not apply to separating parts from each other with a wheel thread and changing the oil), regardless of the complexity of the installation. Learning a new part also gives an experience point. However, these methods are very slow and you shouldn't rely on them if you want to level up your character very quickly. When you receive an order, you do not receive information about how much experience you will get upon successful completion of the order.

Orders give you over 100 experience points. The complexity of the order does not affect the experience gained - rebuilding the engine and replacing filters gives you the same amount of experience. The only difference is the money you receive.

Workshop Abilities and Expansion

You will be able to expand your workshop at the fourth, 12 and 30 levels. When you receive new levels and fulfill orders, you will have the opportunity to use one skill point and spend it on upgrades. The list of available updates can be viewed by interacting with the toolbox that lies in your garage. Abilities are linked to each other (if you want to get the third level, you first need to unlock the previous two). New columns with icons representing updates will only be available after a new level is achieved. Also, abilities can be reset at any time without any consequences.

The limits for new columns can get pretty high very quickly, which means there are no templates to pick first - after a while, you'll have two or three unlocked icons. In addition to player abilities and workshop expansion, you have the option to unlock several tools, such as an electric meter or a tablet. The measuring equipment can be used to diagnose elements of the electrical system or to check the pressure in the cylinders. The tab that allows you to select tools is available in repair mode and can be selected from the quick menu.

Repair of defective parts

Some faulty parts you receive from cars can be fixed after upgrading your workshop for the first time (fourth level). In order to repair a part, you must go to the workshop and interact with it. The bottom panel will contain parts that can be repaired.

Remember that each restoration costs a certain amount of money.
The percentage of improvement indicated for a particular part is random.
If you are unable to repair the part, it will be destroyed.
You can increase the chance of repair (50% is the base value) by developing repair abilities. As a result, you can develop a repair chance up to 95%.
Not all parts can be repaired - in some cases it is physically impossible. There is also no way to repair parts in which the condition is estimated at only a few percent.
I advise you to sell those parts that cannot be repaired.
Do not try to repair valuable parts that are still in good condition - you will be able to use them in new orders and you will not have the risk of destroying this item.
Parts that are repaired to 90 or 100% can sell for almost the same price as purchased in a store.

Repair interface - parts are displayed at the bottom, and above them you can find the chance for repairs and the cost of repairs.

I advise you to quickly develop your repair ability and save money by not buying parts. Instead, repair old parts and sell them after refurbishment. However, you must have a very high level, because each new skill in this specialty will allow you to repair more and more complex parts. At the last level of this skill, you will be able to repair body parts.

Restoration of the classics

You can restore old cars in two ways: buy them at the junkyard or find them in the barns (you also have to pay for the car). After you pay for the junk, it will be transferred to your parking lot. You can move the car to your garage and start working on it at any time. The essence of the improvement is that you can sell this car or add it to your collection. How much effort should be put into restoring the car - it depends on how good the deal your character is (you can buy cars and sell them for the original price - even an incomplete car).

The only thing that will help you get a good deal is a car inspection. Look around the "body" of the car and enter the Browse mode. Now you can try to assess the condition of the car. Remember that the price of a vehicle does not necessarily indicate its integrity. The worse the condition of the car, the more effort and money it will take to get it back in shape. The cost is determined by the brand and model of the car, as well as its condition (visual and mechanical), which is fairly average across all variants. Therefore, in the case of budget repairs, you need to replace very cheap parts such as suspension bushings or cylinder lifters in V8 OHV engines.

Until you start building fancy cars with new parts, I advise you to look for parts on shelves, in cardboard boxes, or in a junkyard. You can buy two identical cars and use their parts to build one worthy car. Your repair skills should be well developed to save money on repairs. Remember that you will not be able to upgrade the car to perfect condition until your workshop is pumped to the third level. Only at the third level of the workshop can you purchase the equipment necessary for cleaning the upholstery or repairing a rusty chassis.

After removing all of the suspension and the entire engine, you will realize that the problem was the radiator fan not working. At such moments, the game makes you swear. Love, but very loud.

The most troubling question that many might ask is how deeply the game is close to the real action of the mechanics. The problem is usually that the more meticulous the simulator is, the more boring it is to play it. Car Mechanic Simulator is cheerful in this regard. Except in the most rare cases, no instructions for disassembling the carburetor are required. The game doesn't force you to insert washers and check bolt tightness. This, of course, is good: over time, you will learn to tighten the nuts faster and move around the garage. The gameplay runs very smoothly, with no lag in dynamics. But there is one very serious problem - the simulator cannot teach you anything.

The point is this: the base that is in the simulator allows you to create an excellent platform for people who do not understand a damn thing about the units, but would really like to figure it out. If you have already dealt with, say, replacing calipers, then you will easily recognize them. But what about those who have never encountered this in their lives? The game does not offer any descriptions of parts. To understand which way to dig when replacing this or that contraption, it is advisable to completely disassemble and assemble the car. And at least a couple of times. At the same time, memorization occurs without any practical benefit for real life. It's a pity.

Despite the fact that poking around in the car is done very well, the game is bursting with the number of buns, many of which are not implemented very well. For example, a test track: in order to check the condition of the suspension, there is enough space inside the garage. The developers decided to divide this diagnostics into two parts, and at the same time show the presence of a physics engine. It would be better if they did not do this - cars turn badly and brake even worse. The wear of the knots has nothing to do with it - there is no difference between a new car and an old sob. The client complains that the car is leaning to the right, the entire right suspension is barely holding, and the car is driving itself calmly. The same is with the test track: with such physics, you will want to go there almost never. In the same, for all its clumsy, management was much more adequate.

Simply put, apart from the fun assembly / disassembly, the game has nothing else of high quality. All the problems that the previous version had have moved to the current one.
