Where can I get WWII artifacts? How to get an artifact for each specialization. New Artifact Achievement

The new addon is getting closer and closer, so we need to prepare for a new system that will haunt us throughout the entire expansion - Artifacts. Since they never gave me the key to the beta (I am a luck person in life), we have to be happy with what we already have. Let's first figure out what an artifact is?

Artifact

Hammer of Doom - an artifact of shamans of the Enhancement specialization.

The artifact is the most powerful weapon ever used in the universe of Azeroth. This means that throughout the entire expansion, your artifact will be the best gun available in the game. Therefore, the choice of abilities to upgrade must be approached with special trepidation.

Upgrading an artifact

Artifact Power can be improved. To obtain the necessary Artifact Powers you will need to actively participate in the gameplay. After each upgraded level of an artifact, you will get a choice of some talent that will improve your abilities or give some additional passive effect.

You can gain experience for Artifact Power from almost all actions performed in the game:

  • Various tasks (including World ones)
  • Treasure Discovery
  • World quest chests (after completing 4 world quests)
  • Completing random dungeons on normal/heroic difficulty
  • Loot from bosses and rarers
  • Missions in your Class Stronghold
  • Victories on the battlefields
  • Victories in arenas

It is also possible to gain experience from objects that are scattered somewhere around the world. The full list of items for which you can receive artifact power is located at the link.

It is important! To upgrade your Artifact with an item, you must use the item while you are wearing the required artifact.

Artifact Abilities

A very important aspect of the game is choosing talents and upgrading your artifact. Artifact abilities are unlocked through acquisition. Artifact Powers.

Each time you accumulate the required amount of experience, you get the opportunity to choose an artifact ability. Each talent requires a certain amount of Artifact Power - each subsequent talent will be more expensive than the previous one.

Each Artifact has one free talent to learn. Typically this talent adds a strong effect to your current abilities. For almost all specializations, the first talent will be an additional ability, although there are exceptions.

Unlocking Artifact Talents

  • Most Artifact talents are passive. Some, for example, are able to increase the power of your ability X for a while, while others will increase the proc chance of ability Y permanently.
  • To see the talent tree of your artifact, click Shift-Right Click on your Artifact
  • The selection of new talents is only possible in your Class Stronghold.
  • Talents have from 1 to 3 ranks. Each rank increases the power of the talent. But each new rank will require more Artifact Power.
  • Relics will add some "bonuses" to existing artifact talents. For example, using relics you can boost a certain talent all the way up to rank 6. (In the case when 3 relics are taken to increase the rank of the talent). Additional ranks, which can be obtained using relics, do not require Artifact Power to unlock. Read more about Relics below.
  • You must upgrade all 3 ranks of your artifact's talent in order to move further along the upgrade branch.
  • Each artifact has 34 points that can be added to the talent tree. A free ability that is given at the beginning does not count
  • Some abilities in the talent tree are outlined with a golden dragon. These abilities are much stronger than others and will greatly affect your effectiveness. Obtaining such talents will require a lot of time and effort.
  • After you put 34 power points into your Artifact, you will receive a special “Bonus Talent” that is designed to increase your overall effectiveness. (more about him below)

Artifact Talent Reset

Sometimes there comes a time when you should think about the correctness of your build. To do this, there is the possibility of resetting talents, but even here everything is not so simple.

  • Resetting talents is not free.
  • Resetting talents costs the same as what they might charge you for leveling up the next talent.
  • For example, you invested 18 points in your artifact and wanted to reset them. To do this you need to upgrade Artifact Power for the number of points that would be required to open the 19th talent. (According to the table - 24,000 Artifact Power).
    Resetting talents will eventually give you 18 points, which you can invest in the talents of your choice.
    note that a reset will not return you Artifact Powers. You only receive talent points, which can be spent on upgrading the talent tree.
    The reset cost is incredibly high, so you should make a very conscious choice of talents each time you level up your artifact.

  • To reset your talents, talk to the NPC who is in your class stronghold.

Talents

Each pumped-up talent in your Artifact increases your overall Stamina and, in some cases, damage dealt.

For example, healers and tanks will receive +0.75% Stamina and +1% damage dealt for each selected talent in the Artifact (In total, +25.5% stamina and +34% damage for a fully upgraded artifact).
Priests of Discipline will be an exception to this rule, as they are hybrids of dealing damage and healing allies. For the Lords of Light and Darkness (let me remind you, only obedience specializations) for each talent will increase stamina by +0.75% and damage dealt by +0.5% (Total +25.5% stamina and +17% damage for a fully upgraded artifact)
Damage-dealing specializations will not receive a damage bonus at all, only stamina remains for them. Just like everyone else, for each talent, endurance will increase by +0.75%, which in total will give +25.5% for a fully upgraded artifact.

Talent cost

The table below shows the cost of each artifact talent. After level 13, talents will increase in value exponentially. Please note that at level 1 you need 100 Artifact Power, while at level 34 you need 5,216,130 Artifact Power. It seems we will have a long addon. 🙂

In the table, the abbreviation SA is Artifact Power.

Bonus Talent

The bonus talent becomes available only when you have already pumped 34 talent points into your Artifact. Additionally, the bonus talent has 20 ranks, by investing in which you can increase your effectiveness. (For damage-dealing characters there will be an increase in damage, for healers - an increase in healing, for tanks - survivability). This system is somewhat similar to the paragon system in Diablo 3.

In the table you can see the cost and stat increases for each level of the Bonus Talent.

The bonus to tanks with a shield applies to classes whose tank specializations are designed for tanking with a shield (Paladin, Warrior). They will receive an increased amount of armor due to the Bonus Talent. Other tanks (without a shield) will receive an increase in health for leveling up the bonus talent.

Features:

  • Please note that to upgrade an Artifact to level 13, 6,500 Artifact Power is required. This is comparable to leveling up an artifact to level 14 (6,840 Artifact Power is required there). Therefore, if you want to play with all specializations, you should think about leveling up all Artifacts to level 13 before leveling the first one to level 14.
  • Do not be afraid of such sky-high figures for the required Artifact Power. To make leveling easier, there is such a mechanic as Artifact Knowledge, which will ultimately increase the resulting Artifact Power by as much as 24,000%! But more on that below.

Relics

There are different types of relics
green, white, red...

Relics deserve a separate article. In general, this is an analogue of stones, only more advanced. At the moment, two functions of relics are known:
1. Increasing item level (ilvl) Artifact, which in turn increases the main and secondary characteristics of the weapon.
2. Obtaining an additional rank for any Artifact talent.

You can find a complete list of relics on the WoWHead website.

General information about relics

  • Your artifact will have 3 slots for relics (2 will be available immediately, and the 3rd will open after completing the campaign in a class stronghold).
  • There are many different combinations for relics depending on the Artifact. For example, the Artifact of the Priests of Darkness has two dark slots for a relic and one bloody slot, while magicians of the ice specialization will have 2 ice slots and 1 secret.
  • There are 10 types of relics: Arcane, Bloody, Corrupted, Fire, Ice, Holy, Iron, Life, Dark and Storm.
  • The relic can only be inserted into a slot of the same type.
  • Relics come in different qualities: Uncommon, Rare, Epic. These relics can be obtained from quests, crafts, and bosses.
  • Some relics are BoE (bind when used), so they can be sold at auction.
  • For relics, a corresponding tab will appear in the auction window in the “Gems” category.
  • As a reward for quests or through personal loot, you will receive only the type of Relics that are available for your current artifact.
  • You will not be able to remove relics from your weapons. Like gems, old ones are destroyed as new ones take their place.
  • Each relic has two effects, which are described below.

Effect of Relics No. 1 - Increases the level of items.

Each relic has its own item level. Varies from 670 to 895. The higher the level of the Relic item, the greater the effect of its use.

  • Increasing the item level of your artifact will increase the primary and secondary characteristics of the item.
  • For example, the Flickering Timespark relic (Falls in a raid) will increase the item level of your artifact by +43 item levels, while the crafted Soul Fibril relic will only increase by +31 ilvl.
  • Relics that are dropped from bosses (raids, dungeons, world bosses) can randomly be upgraded by +5 or more item level when dropped. The maximum level of a Relic is 895. Relics whose level has increased by more than 15 will be labeled “Titan-Forged” ( TitanForged).
  • Your artifact begins its journey at item level 750 and increases with the help of relics that are inserted into it. The possible level development limit for an artifact item is 918. It is reached at artifact level 19 with the three maximum possible relics.

You can see where the relics are mined in the table below.

Production Relic Item Level Artifact Level Up The note
Tasks 670-815 +2-33 lvl.pr. Rewards for tasks are scaled to your current level. World quests are guaranteed to give 805+ (can be randomly upgraded to better quality)

Maximum possible Relic level 895 +56 lvl.pr.

Relic Effect #2 - Artifact Bonus Talents.

  • Each relic improves a specific talent. To improve a certain talent, you will need to hunt down a certain relic.
  • The relic will not only give you a rank, but will also increase the maximum talent capacity. (For example, if a talent has a maximum of 0/2, then after installing a relic in it, it will become 1/3)
  • Relics do not allow you to skip the mechanics of filling a trait, since it only works when the talent is completely filled with artifact points. (if you have a relic that increases a 0/1 talent to 1/2, then you will not be given the opportunity to learn the next talent in the chain until the talent becomes 2/2)
  • In the case where the talent can be pumped up to 3/3, 3 identical relics will increase the level of the talent to 6/6

Artifact Knowledge.

Another element of mechanics that you need to get to know better. Knowledge of the Artifact allows you to increase the resulting Artifact Power as a percentage.

  • The Artifact Knowledge mechanic becomes available at level 110. At this stage, two tasks will become available:
    1. Hidden History - You will be asked to find 4 volumes of history for your artifact, which are hidden throughout Azeroth
    2. Speaking to the Wind (Shaman task) or the general quest Hitting the Books, in which you will need to instruct your associates to conduct literature research.
  • When the quest is completed, you will have access to a further task for your teammates to complete Artifact Research Notes. Using this item will significantly improve your Artifact Knowledge.
  • Each volume contains information about your Artifact - a good piece of lore.
  • At the start of the expansion, obtaining the Artifact Research Notes item takes 5 days. In the future, this time can be reduced, depending on how far you and your Artifact lag behind the rest of the players. Also, such a system will allow you to quickly upgrade twinks and their Artifact Power.
  • Crafting Artifact Research Notes costs 500
  • Each such item increases Artifact Knowledge by 1 level up to level 25.
  • This means that you will receive one Artifact Knowledge every 5 days.
  • Each level of Artifact Knowledge increases the amount of Artifact Power received from various sources.
  • The importance of Artifact Knowledge cannot be underestimated, because at level 1 the increase is 25%, when at level 25 it is already 24,000%.
  • Artifact knowledge cannot be increased by:
    — All items in your inventory received before your Artifact Knowledge rose to a new level.
    — Level quests (one-time use)
    - Hidden treasures
  • For the reasons described above, we can conclude that you should not salt items that increase your Artifact Power for later. After all, their power of these items will not change.
  • Knowledge of an Artifact only works for one character, but for all Artifacts owned by him. Any other character must earn Artifact Knowledge on their own.

An example of using an item that increases Artifact Power at different values Artifact Knowledge.

That's all for today. We will look in more detail at obtaining, abilities and leveling up the Artifact by a shaman in the next article. There we will also look at all the appearances for the Shaman’s Artifacts. Keep your finger on the pulse!

We touched on the mechanics and leveling up of this new type of weapon. In this part we will talk about how to change the appearance of World of Warcraft: Legion artifacts.

Update Patch 7.2. In patch 7.2, new appearances for artifacts were introduced. .

At release it is planned that artifacts will have five different styles or types (the sixth will not be available at the launch of the add-on, most likely it will be released in some patch) and each style will have its own color scheme. There are several paths that will reveal to you these types and variations of the type of artifact. Remember that you can change them in the Artifact Forge in the Class Stronghold.

A few important notes. Remember that you can transmogrify an artifact using another weapon. A certain style of weapon changes its type - for example, for VM hunters, an artifact can be either a bow or a gun. The first five types that will be available at launch are described below:

  • classic view: quests related to the Class Stronghold;
  • improved view: achievements and quests related to the Class Stronghold, artifact upgrades and archeology;
  • valiant view: PvE progress (5ppl dungeons);
  • hardened look: PvP progress (prestige levels);
  • hidden view: the path of obtaining varies for each individual spec;
  • other types: were discovered by dataminers, but what they can be obtained for is still unknown.

In order to open variations of a certain style, you must first open its “main view” (Main Tint). For example, in order to gain access to the "improved" style branch, you need to complete the Balance of Power quest chain and only then you need to complete all the other achievements necessary to obtain other variations of the style.

Style variations are unlocked on a per-character basis and do not apply to all characters on an account - you will need to repeat achievements on each of them to gain access to the Artifact Weapon Style. The only exception to this rule is the “Glory to the Legion Hero” meta-achievement, which is given for receiving all achievements in 5ppl.

Now let's learn more about how to access the view and its variations.

How to change the appearance of artifacts

Classic look

Main view(Mail Tint): given after completing the starting quest chain associated with the artifact

Variation 2(Tint #2): Complete one of the quests related to the Pillars of Creation. The list of quests is below:

Variation 4(Tint #4): Requires completion of the first part of the Class Hall campaign

Fight in Style: Classic Look.

Upgraded

Main view(Mail Tint): You need to completely complete the Class Hall campaign (and get the Battleforged achievement).

Variation 2(Tint #2): Unlock all artifact traits (34 points, requiring 5,216,130 Artifact Power), earning the achievement Power Incarnate.

Variation 3(Tint #3): fully study the entire history of the artifact (the Part of History achievement), which are tied to completing orders in the Class Stronghold related to leveling up the Knowledge of the Artifact. Only available at level 110.

Variation 4(Tint #4): Complete the "This Side Up" achievement by obtaining eight rare archaeological items from the list. Only available at level 110.

By unlocking all style variations you will receive the achievement Fight in Style: Improved Look.

Valorous View

Main view(Mail Tint): Complete the fairly long Balance of Power quest chain, which requires 30 Blood of Sargeras, completing several Heroic dungeons, and items dropped in the Emerald Nightmare raid.

Variation 2(Tint #2): Requires completing the "Beasts Unbound" achievement (fishing for 8 of the 10 world bosses in the Broken Isles).

Variation 3(Tint #3): Requires completing a Mythic difficulty dungeon at level 15 or higher, using your own key or someone else's.

Variation 4(Tint #4): Requires 26 achievements to obtain the Glory of the Legion Hero meta achievement on Mythic dungeon difficulty.

By unlocking all style variations you will receive the achievement Fight in Style: Valiant Look.

Hardened Look (War-Torn)

Legion introduces a new PvP ranking system. Weapons of this type can be unlocked by obtaining the appropriate prestige levels.

Main view(Mail Tint): complete the Victor's Spoils quest, gain prestige level 1 and honor rank 50.

Variation 2(Tint #2): Reach prestige level 5 (only possible in Legion PvP Season 2).

As you progress in the expansion, you will receive more and more artifact power. With its help, you will unlock new artifact talents that will give you an advantage in battle. If you made the wrong choice of talents, you can always reset them.

You can reset artifact points at the NPC next to the artifact anvil. As soon as you enter your class stronghold for the first time, this NPC will already be waiting for you.

The more points you managed to spend on an artifact, the more expensive the reset will cost you. In the table below you can see how much it will cost to reset artifact points depending on the pumped points.

How to get an artifact for another specialization

If you want to change your specialization and try another artifact, make sure you have already reached level 102.

Once you have received 102, return to the class stronghold and take a new quest from the same NPC who issued the quest for the first artifact. Immediately after the line of quests for the second artifact, you can complete the same one for the artifact of the third (and fourth for Druids) specialization.

Leveling up the second artifact

As soon as you receive your second artifact, you can immediately upgrade it. The cost of points for the second artifact will be exactly the same as for the first, regardless of how much artifact power you have already spent on the first.

Artifacts of different specializations are in no way related to each other, except that the same items that give the power of the artifact are suitable for them. Therefore, you will need to make a choice: spend the accumulated power of the artifact on pumping up 1 talent in an already upgraded artifact of the main specialization or several at once in a new artifact of the second specialization.

How to change the appearance of an artifact

To change the appearance of an artifact, head to the artifact forge and open the tab. Here you can see possible artifact appearances, as well as information on how to obtain them.

There are 5 artifact skins in total, each of which has 4 colors:

    Basic appearance. Given for completing simple quests in a class stronghold.

    Improved appearance. Quests related to the class stronghold and artifact.

    Valiant appearance. Given for prestige levels and progress in PvP.

    Tempered appearance. Given for completing 2 dungeons and completing tasks with teammates.

    Secret look. Each class has its own criteria for obtaining the hidden appearance of an artifact. We will write about how to get the hidden appearance of an artifact later.

What you need to know about artifacts in WoW

Basic information:

  • There is an artifact for each specialization of each class - thus, there are 36 artifacts in total in the Legion. This is an exceptionally powerful weapon.
  • To receive the artifact, you need to complete the quest chain for your specialization. As you progress through the quests, you will learn a lot of information about famous characters in the game.
  • The artifact is the character's main weapon in the Legion. There is no weapon more powerful.
  • Artifact Traits/Talents are passive abilities that enhance your class's abilities.
  • Relics are items that can be inserted into an artifact to enhance certain features of a weapon and increase the level of the item.
  • The power of the artifact grows as the Power of the artifact is gained. This unlocks new available features and relics.
  • Artifact Knowledge is a system that allows players to quickly obtain artifacts for secondary specializations. All artifacts for your class can be obtained through the campaign in the class hall.
  • Artifacts have different styles and colors that can be unlocked by performing certain actions. An artifact can be transmogrified into another weapon, but the weapon cannot be given the appearance of an artifact.

Demon Hunter Artifact (Glaives):

Artifact Features (Talents)

The full list of features is available (only in English for now).

Traits/talents are passive skills that enhance the abilities of a specific specialization. When you first get your artifact, the first trait is an active one (and quite powerful - like Phoenix Flame for mages).

  • To select new features, simply click on your artifact.
  • Most features have 3 upgrade ranks. You need to spend Artifact Power to increase the rank of features - and this will make them more powerful.
  • Some talents have a golden dragon border around them. These talents have a more noticeable impact on the game and usually have separate visual effects.
  • The number of upgrade ranks also increases the character's Stamina.

Example talents for Ashbringer:

Artifact Relics

The full list of artifact relics can be found on WoWhead.

Relics can be inserted into your artifact to increase the item's level. Each relic also allows you to increase the rank of one feature of the artifact.

  • The maximum rank for features is 6/6.
  • There are different types of relics, and only certain types can be inserted into each artifact. For example, priests of darkness can insert 2 relics of Darkness and 1 relic of Blood, and frost mages can insert 2 relics of Ice and 1 relic of Arcane magic.
  • A relic improves a specific feature of an artifact. Wherein not all specializations of the same class can receive a bonus from a certain relic.
  • Relics cannot be removed from an artifact: when replaced, the old relic is destroyed. Unused relics can be sold to a merchant or disenchanted.
  • Relics come in different qualities - uncommon, rare and epic.
  • You can get relics as rewards for quests, from bosses in dungeons and raids, as well as through professions. The quality of the relic as a quest reward can be randomly upgraded from uncommon to rare / from rare to epic.

How to get an artifact in WoW

All classes receive their artifact through completing the introductory quest chain. In this case, you will need to use the unique abilities of your specialization.

For example, Survival hunters will actively use traps, and Assassination robbers will move around Stormwind in Stealth mode.

At the end of the missions, you gain access to the class stronghold, and also learn how to operate the artifact and the command table for missions in the stronghold.

By completing missions in a class stronghold, you can receive quest items that give you access to artifacts from other specializations of your class.

Video of the chains for obtaining the artifact can be viewed at Youtube.

Artifact Power

Artifact talents can be upgraded using Artifact Power.

Artifact power in the Legion can be obtained in different ways:

  • Completing major quests;
  • Killing bosses in dungeons and raids;
  • Treasure hunt;
  • Walkthrough of random heroics.

To use an item that gives Artifact Power, right-click on this item, and then on the desired weapon.

When you develop an artifact, the cost of subsequent levels of each trait increases, and quite significantly. To upgrade the first talent, you need 100 units of Strength, and then this number can reach 6000-8000.

Artifact of the robber of the “Stealth” branch:

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact knowledge is necessary to increase the amount of Artifact Power you receive from items.

  • Level 110 players can return special books found around the world to the NPC researcher in the class stronghold.
  • To research the volume, you need to spend Stronghold Resources. When the research is completed, you will receive more Artifact Knowledge points. Here is a list of tomes related to increasing the Artifact Power level.
  • This increase applies to most items that provide Artifact Power, but not all.
  • Artifact knowledge increases the rate of obtaining Artifact Power on a character and applies to all artifacts. This will be useful if you are pumping up artifacts for different specializations.
  • Artifact knowledge will be gained faster as the expansion progresses.

Appearance of artifacts

Each artifact has 6 appearance styles, and each style has 4 color options - i.e. total of 24 appearance options.

Each color option opens in different ways. For example:

  • Receiving prestige levels 2, 5, 9, 13;
  • Achievement Loremaster of the Legion;
  • Achievement Rise of the Traitor (kill Gul'dan);
  • Achievement for killing 8 world bosses;
  • Achievement Hidden Potential (something secret).

The artifact can be transmogrified into anything, but the appearance of the artifact cannot be given to another weapon.

All options for the appearance of artifacts can be viewed in the artifact calculator on WoWhead (in the “Appearance” tab).

Hidden Artifact Effects

Artifacts in Legion may have some hidden effects.

One of the developers put it this way:

"When you're dealing with items as powerful as some of the artifacts players will receive in Legion, there's no telling what mysterious things might happen."

There are several suggestions as to what could be the hidden effects of the artifacts in Legion:

  • Hunter's Onslaught, Feral Druid: Ashhide's claws are filled with the blood of beasts, providing a 3% increase in speed. The effect dissipates when the druid enters combat.
  • Valkyra's Gaze, Fury War: If the warrior kills an enemy within 8 seconds of the effect triggering, he recovers 50% of his health.
  • Ashbringer, Retro Paladin: There is a chance that the Ashbringer will instantly kill a small demon or undead near the character.
  • Call of the Eagle, Hunter: When a hunter's health drops below 40%, an eagle comes to his aid for 10 seconds; fires no more than once every three minutes.

Video of the hidden effect Valkyra's Gaze (furi var):

Cosmetic effects

There are also some cosmetic effects associated with artifacts in the game:

  • Paladins can see demons in Dalaran using Reveal Light.
  • Air elementals in Stormheim are friendly to Elemental shamans.
  • Some classes have a special animation for the Away status (Frost DK, Druids, and Healing Shamans).
  • Some NPCs react to a character with an artifact. For example, the elven blacksmith in Dalaran admires Felo'Melorn (an artifact of the fire mages).

We talk about Legion artifacts in this guide. All about talents and artifact relics, their appearance, power and artifact knowledge in World of Warcraft. Artifacts are unique weapons for each specialization added in Legion. The power of such weapons grows as the player progresses through the plot of the add-on.

In this guide we will tell you all about Legion artifacts in World of Warcraft. We will give detailed information about talents and artifact relics, their appearance, power and knowledge of the artifact in WOW.

Artifacts are unique weapons for each specialization added in Legion. The power of such weapons grows as the player progresses through the plot of the add-on.

Note: made some changes to the artifact system. Main: new talents have appeared and new appearances of artifacts have become available. For minor changes, read the guide to patch 7.2 (section about artifacts).

What you need to know about artifacts in WoW

Basic information:

  • There is an artifact for each specialization of each class - thus, there are 36 combat artifacts in the Legion. This is an exceptionally powerful weapon.
  • The 37th artifact is related to fishing - it is a fishing rod for fishermen.
  • To receive the artifact, you need to complete the quest chain for your specialization. As the quests progress, you will learn a lot of information about famous representatives of your class.
  • The Artifact is your character's main weapon in the Legion. There is no stronger weapon.
  • Artifact Traits/Talents – Improve the abilities of your class.
  • Relics are items that can be inserted into an artifact to enhance certain talents and increase the overall level of the item (and, accordingly, its characteristics).
  • The power of the artifact grows as the Power of the artifact is gained. This unlocks new available talents and relics.
  • Artifact Knowledge is a special system that allows players to quickly obtain artifacts for the second and third specializations.
  • All artifacts of your class can be obtained through the campaign in the class stronghold.
  • Artifacts have different styles and colors that can be unlocked by performing certain actions. An artifact can be transmogrified into another weapon (see the Legion transmog guide), but you cannot give a weapon the appearance of an artifact.

Artifact Power in WOW Legion

Artifact talents can be upgraded using Artifact Power. At the same time, Artifact Power is not a currency (it cannot be accumulated and spent), but is rather similar to experience: by receiving Artifact Power, you unlock new talents in the talent tree of your weapon.

The current amount of available Artifact Power is displayed above the experience bar. By hovering your cursor over it, you will see how many units of Artifact Power you are missing before unlocking the next talent.

Artifact power in Legion can be obtained through the use of consumable items, such as a Glass of Dalaran Wine or a Brief History of the Ages.

Items that provide Artifact Power can be obtained in different ways:

  • Treasure hunt;
  • Missions in a class stronghold;
  • PvP victories on battlefields and arenas;
  • Completing major quests or local tasks;
  • Chests for completing a series of local quests (for 4 tasks for one faction);
  • Additional objectives and bonus tasks in the open world;
  • Drop from rarities, bosses in dungeons and raids of the Legion, world bosses;
  • Completing random dungeons on normal and heroic difficulty;

Good video about Artifact Power:

When you receive one of these items, click on it to add Power to the artifact currently equipped on the character.

  • If you want to add Artifact Power to a weapon you have in your inventory (an artifact for your other specialization), you first need to equip this artifact, and only then use a consumable item.
  • The power of artifacts is calculated separately for each weapon. That is, if you added 10,000 units of artifact power to the current artifact, this will not affect the weapons for your other specializations.

The amount of Artifact Power obtained from similar consumable items is can be increased with Artifact Knowledge. More details about this are written in the corresponding section of our guide.

Every time you spend Power on upgrading artifact talents, the cost of unlocking subsequent talents increases significantly. To upgrade the first talent, you need 100 units of Strength, and then this number can reach up to 5,000,000.

Artifact Talents (features)

Features (or talents) of the artifact - these are special skills that are unlocked as you level up the artifact. To learn each talent you need Artifact Power, and as you level up more talents on one weapon, subsequent talents require more and more Artifact Power.

Each artifact weapon has one free talent (the very first one), which does not require resources to level up and gives you a powerful class ability. Typically, the ability from the first talent is active and appears on your ability bar, but for some classes and specializations it can be passive.

Relic Effect #1: Item Level Up

Each relic has a certain item level - in beta it ranged from 670 to 895.

  • The higher the level of the relic, the more item levels it will add to the artifact.
    • For example, Soul Fibril (level 805, craft) will add +31 ilvl to the weapon, and Flickering Spark of Time (level 850, drop in raids) will add +43 ilvl.
    • Relics that drop in dungeons, raids, and from world bosses, when dropped, have a certain chance of being upgraded by +5 item levels. Taking into account all difficulty options, the maximum item level for such relics is 895.
  • The starting level of all artifacts is 750, and each relic inserted into a socket increases this level. The maximum level of an artifact that can be overclocked in T19 content is 918(with three improved level 895 relics).

Relics can be inserted into your artifact to increase the item's level. Each relic also allows you to increase the rank of one feature of the artifact.

The table below shows the levels of relics depending on the source of receipt:

Source Level Level boost Notes
Regular quests and world quests 670-815 +2-33 ilvls Quest rewards scale to the player's level when they turn in the quest.
Rewards for world quests are level 805+ (can proc upgraded ones)
Normals 700-805+* +2-31 ilvls The item's level depends on the character's level at the time of killing the monster/boss.
Craft 805 +31 ilvls Crafted Relics cannot be upgraded with Obliterium like other crafted items
Heroics 825+* +36 ilvls
Raids (LFR) 835+* +39 ilvls
Mythic dungeons 840+* +40 ilvls
Raids (normals) 850+* +43 ilvls
World bosses 860+* +46 ilvls
Raids (heroic) 865+* +48 ilvls
Raids (Mythic) 880+* +52 ilvls
Maximum level 895 +56 ilvls

* Relics marked with an asterisk may be randomly upgraded when dropped. The table in this guide shows the minimum item level for them.

Relic Effect #2: Bonus Ranks for Talents

Each relic improves a specific talent of the artifact. On Wowhead, a list of such talents can be viewed by selecting the “Improves” tab on the relics page. Thus, if you want to enhance a certain talent on an artifact, you need to look for special relics.

  • The relic immediately gives an additional rank and increases it. If it was 0/3, it will become 1/4.
  • Relics do not allow you to cheat the talent system: if a relic turns a 0/1 talent into a 1/2, you will still need to level one rank to move further up the talent tree.
  • One talent can be maximally upgraded to rank 6/6. In this case, all three relics in the artifact slots should improve one talent.

How to get an artifact in WoW Legion

The first artifact in the Legion can be obtained at level 100.

Obtaining the second, third, fourth artifact

Upon reaching level 102, your character will be able to obtain artifacts for all specs of your class. For most, this is 3 artifacts, for Demon Hunters - 2, for Druids - 4.

To get the second artifact, you need to return to the class stronghold and take on the quest to select an artifact. The game will then prompt you to complete a quest chain for that weapon.

After receiving the second artifact, a chain for obtaining the third (and then, for druids, the fourth) will become available.

Video of the chains for obtaining the artifact can be viewed at Youtube.

Note:

  • The chain for each artifact was created taking into account specialization: healers will need to heal the group, tanks will need to take on monsters, and damage dealers will need to complete standard quests for collecting items / killing monsters.
  • You can change your specialization along the chain. That is, you can make a chain for a healer in the DD spec if you kill all the enemies before they destroy your group. However, this will not be the easiest task.
  • If you have multiple artifacts, they will be automatically equipped when you change specialization. You cannot equip an artifact that does not match your current specialization.
  • Artifacts cannot be destroyed. Remember that each artifact received will always occupy one slot in your inventory.
  • Obtaining all artifacts available for your class is rewarded with the achievement Impressive arsenal .

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact Knowledge serves to increase the Artifact Power you gain from items over time.

  • Artifact knowledge becomes available at level 110. You will receive two tasks related to completing orders:
    • Hidden History - Recover 4 volumes of knowledge scattered across Azeroth.
    • Digging through books - complete a work order.
  • Once both tasks are completed, you can continue completing orders to obtain Artifact Data, which increases your Artifact Knowledge level.
  • At the start of the Legion It takes 5 days to complete one order for Artifact Data. However, the new addition will implement a special system that will count the number of days from the launch of the Legion, and based on this number, reduce the order completion time to 4 days, 3 days, and so on.
    • This system is designed for alts and those who will start playing long after the release date of Legion.
  • Each order for Notes on Legion Artifacts will cost 500 Order Resources (read Where to get class Order Resources in Legion).

1.1. Main color: available by default.

1.2 Color #2: Bring back one of the Pillars of Creation.

You can get one Pillar of Creation through the quest chain in each of the Legion locations. Below is a list of pillars, the final tasks for obtaining them and the corresponding locations:

Aegis of Aggramar Securing the Aegis Stormheim
Hammer of Khaz'goroth Hammer of Khaz'goroth Highmountain
Tear of Elune Tears of Elune, Valshara
Fight in Style: Improved Look .

2.1. Home Color: Complete the campaign in a Class Hall.

In fact, you need to get the achievement Hardened for battle .

2.2. Color #2: Unlock all Artifact Talents.

2.4. Color #4: Complete the achievement This side up .

The only coloring of artifacts associated with Archeology. To obtain it you need to collect 8 rare archaeological projects in the Legion.

Please note: Rare finds in Legion are obtained differently than in other expansions. Every two weeks, the Archeology trainer (Dariness the Knowledgeable) will have a task, for which you will be offered a rare project as a reward. To complete quests with the Archeology teacher, you need level 110.

3. Valiant appearance

Achievement for all 4 appearance options: Fight in Style: Valiant Look .

3.1. Main Color: Complete the “Balance of Power” quest chain.

This is a fairly long chain that starts in your class hall at level 110 and has many stages. Among other things, you will need to bring 30 pieces of Blood of Sargeras (read How to get Blood of Sargeras in WOW), complete several heroic dungeons and obtain items from the Emerald Nightmare raid.

3.2. Color #2: Complete the achievement Unleashed Monsters .

To get the achievement, you need to kill 8 out of 10 Legion world bosses in the Broken Isles.

3.3. Color #3: Complete a Challenge Mode dungeon using a level 15 key.

To unlock this colorway, you need to complete a Mythic dungeon on difficulty level 15. You can use your own key or someone else's.

3.4 Color #4: Complete the achievement Glory to the Hero of the Legion .

This meta achievement requires completing 26 achievements in 10 Legion dungeons on Mythic difficulty. The achievement is common to the account, and so is this appearance for the artifact.

4. Seasoned look

5.2. Color #2: Complete 100 dungeons using a hidden artifact appearance option.

5.3. Color #3: Complete 200 World Quests with a hidden appearance on an artifact.

5.4. Color #4: Kill 1000 enemy players using a hidden artifact appearance.

6. Sixth appearance (one of the Legion patches)

Nothing is known yet about how to obtain the sixth appearance option for Legion artifacts. Information will appear closer to one of the next patches (7.1, 7.2, etc.)

All options for the appearance of artifacts for each class and specialization can be found in the artifact calculator on Wowhead (in the “Appearance” tab).

Hidden effects of Legion artifacts

Artifacts in Legion can have various hidden effects.

Here's what one of the WOW Legion developers said about it:

"When you're dealing with items as powerful as some of the artifacts players will receive in Legion, there's no telling what mysterious things might happen."

There are several suggestions as to what could be the hidden effects of the artifacts in Legion:

  • Hunter's Swiftness, Feral Druid: Ashhide's claws are filled with the blood of beasts, providing a 3% increase in movement speed. The effect dissipates when the druid enters combat.
  • Valkyra's Gaze, Fury Var: If the warrior kills an enemy within 8 seconds of the effect triggering, he will restore 50% of his health.
  • Ashbringer, Retro Paladin: There is a chance that the Ashbringer will instantly kill a small demon or undead near the character.
  • Summon Eagles, Hunter: When a hunter's health drops below 40%, an eagle comes to his aid for 10 seconds; fires no more than once every three minutes.

Some artifacts can talk to their owners (for example, Aluneth for the arcane mage or the Skull of Man'ari for the warlock), and will often whisper something during adventures around the world.

Cosmetic effects

There are also some cosmetic effects associated with artifacts in the game:

  • Paladins can see demons in Dalaran using Revealing Light.

Artifacts FAQ

This section of the artifact guide contains the most frequently asked questions about the main weapons of the Legion.

1. How much space does the artifact take up in your bag?

Two-handed artifacts obviously occupy one slot. But, interestingly, double artifacts (for example, Fist+Shield) also only take up one space in the bag. Agree, this is a nice space saver, especially if you collect artifacts for several specializations.

2. How does transmog work with artifacts?

You can transmogrify an artifact into another weapon, but you cannot transfer the appearance of the artifact to another weapon. You can use different transmogrifications for different parts of the artifact (for example, right-handed and left-handed daggers).

3. Can you change talents, relics or the appearance of an artifact anywhere?

Relics can be inserted into weapons anywhere. To change your appearance and activate new talents (ranks), you need to be near a special forge in your class stronghold. To redistribute talents on an artifact, you need to talk to the NPC who stands next to the forge in the class stronghold.

4. What should I do if I chose the wrong artifact, sold my old weapon and want to level up to level 102 in a different spec?

The quartermaster of your class stronghold sells level 740 weapons, off-hand weapons, and shields for 100 gold. You can purchase them as a replacement for an artifact until you reach level 102.

5. Is it possible to destroy an artifact in WoW?

After completing the quest chain and receiving the artifact, you will not be able to destroy it or sell it to a merchant.

6. How can I see the leveling of artifact talents from other players?

In the standard World of Warcraft interface, you cannot see the layout of artifact talents for other characters, but you can see the level of the item.

7. Will it be possible to use the acquired artifact appearances for transmog after Legion?

Most likely, yes - all variants of the appearance of artifacts can be transmogrified after Legion (in the next expansion). In this case, it is implied that the skins can be unlocked during Legion, but after the expansion they will not be obtainable. This also applies to new forms of the druid (the appearance of the Cat and the Bear changes from the artifact).

8. Can artifacts be used in PvP?

Artifacts and their effects can be used in all PvP situations: arenas, battlegrounds, open world.

9. Will Artifact Knowledge be account-wide?

No, Artifact Knowledge will not be account bound. This system allows you to get artifacts faster for alternate specializations, but not for alternate characters.

10. How long will it take to max out the first artifact?

It will take several months to level up all 34 ranks of artifact talents in the WWII Legion. The developers did not provide a more precise figure.

We can't wait to hear your opinion on the introduction of weapons such as artifacts in the Legion - we look forward to your feedback in the comments!
