A selection of tower defense games. Whose tower is stronger: Tower Defense games Best etc.

Tower Defense games ( "Tower defense", English.) fully correspond to their name. We build turrets to protect ourselves from hordes of cockroaches/flies/zombies/planes/squares, etc., for successful defense we receive coins/bonuses/resources, for which we build/improve turrets to protect ourselves from the hordes... Well, you get the idea.
It may sound boring, but in practice these are quite exciting games with a simple interface. Our rating today will allow you to get acquainted with the 5 best representatives of this genre. By the way, some of the presented games belong to the Castle Defense subgenres, but we will summarize everything under one name, which is more familiar to a wide circle.

By the way, games like Dota and LoLa (MOBA) appeared solely due to the popularity of Tower Defense. DotA has a lot from TD: endless “batches” of attacking units, defensive towers... So this modest genre, which has contributed to the development of the gaming industry, cannot be underestimated.

Dota fans create TD cards, as if hinting: “This classic Dota is so boring! We want TD!”

However, anyone can troll dockers - it’s better to move directly to the subject

Tower defense games have been very popular for a long time; the development of mobile phones has brought new breath to this industry. These types of games are especially good for phones. Below you will find the 13 best tower defense games for Android in 2019, in our opinion.

Best overall game: Plants vs. Zombies 2

Almost everything is perfect here, and the game is absolutely free. It has an excellent level of detail, a nice graphic style, and a lot of tactical possibilities. There is a good variety of maps in which the player’s tasks may differ. In addition, the game offers different mini-games in the same tower defense genre.

The player will have to install a number of plants with different characteristics and abilities. From ordinary sunflowers that give a boost of energy to plants that throw peas. There are even carnivorous plants that absorb opponents. The main sled is a rectangular area of 5 by 9 cells in the backyard of a dwelling. The house is besieged from all sides by armies of zombies. Among them are newspaper readers, football players, crazy gardeners and more.

Tower defense for RPG fans: Kingdom Rush

This is another free tower defense game that is ready to offer a large selection of actions and ways to contain monsters. Kingdom Rush should appeal not only to RPG fans, but also to other gamers. It has impeccably crafted gameplay, and a significant portion of the game is occupied by the role-playing element. As you progress, you will have to develop the hero and find the best equipment for him.

Kingdom Rush is very reminiscent of today's popular MOBA games, in which tower defense plays a significant role. Overall, the developers managed to create a very successful mixture with an RPG, which all Tower Defense fans should appreciate.

Tower defense for professional players: Defense Zone 3 HD

Free tower defense for Android with a realistic design, which has a huge selection of modern defense equipment. The choice of protective equipment is much wider than most other games. Instead of protecting your own base from simple monsters, the emphasis is on large-scale military battles involving tanks and anti-aircraft guns.

The game not only looks great, but the gameplay is also okay. There are plenty of tactical possibilities. The depth of development of the game is impressive. True, a beginner will have to spend a lot of time to understand its intricacies, but for true connoisseurs this is not a problem.

Tower defense for kids or beginners: Bloons TD 6

In almost all games, the main enemies are soldiers, knights, and monsters, but in Bloons TD 6 you have to defend against balloons. Although the balloons themselves are not too different from other attackers, since they have the same abilities as enemies in other games. The player will have to place monkey defenders who, with the right tactics, will be able to repel opponents. There are also special attacks that allow you to change the tide of battle.

The game provides access to a lot of levels, and there are also various add-ons. Important advantages are the cooperative mode and special tasks. All this is aimed at ensuring that the gamer can spend a lot of time in the game. The cost of the application is quite justified. Of course, you should look at other games to understand whether Bloons TD 6 is worth the money.

Tower Defense for Collectors: Defenders 2: Tower Defense CCG

This is a kind of hybrid between Tower Defense and card collecting. Here the hero will have to collect various cards and open more defensive fortifications. Most likely you have already guessed that the game is shareware. To access the best, unique towers you need to donate.

To get to the place where it is difficult to complete tasks without real money, you will have to spend dozens of hours. The game has over 40 types of towers, 20 different spells and even 29 bosses. Another interesting point is the presence of a PVP mode. There are also a lot of tasks that complicate the passage of the game.

Retro Tower Defense: Dungeon Defense

This game is reminiscent of the concept of Plants vs. Zombies. On the left you will have to build fortifications with various heroes. Hordes of monsters are constantly attacking the player from the right. A distinctive feature in comparison with other games is that much more depends on the player than the usual installation of a building.

It is possible to collect different types of weapons and upgrades directly during the match, this significantly increases the defensive ability of the base. Dungeon Defense is a small retro-style game made by just 1 developer. It makes sense to buy it for fans of active TD games and those who don’t want to overpay; the price here is reasonable.

Tower defense with a special charm: Swamp Attack

The main difference between Swamp Attack is its colorful design and highly detailed textures. There are a lot of possibilities here in terms of gameplay. The main character is an ordinary “redneck” who is conveniently located on the veranda and does not want uninvited guests. His task is to shoot different animals with weapons.

The characters here are really strange: beavers with weapons, confused crocodiles, mosquitoes and other monsters. The hero's arsenal includes various firearms: machine guns, machine guns, a flamethrower and even an atomic bomb.

Tower Defense for Explorers: Dig Defender

Just by the name of the game you can understand that the essence of the game is defense and digging. Need to dig something? Exactly. Each level has a separate map to explore. The hero's task is to dig a path along which the attackers will follow. Eventually they will have to be killed.

The game contains over 70 levels, there is a survival mode where you need to fight for a dominant position on the stairs. There is an achievement system implemented here, and updates are constantly coming out. Another important point is the absence of paid resources that would interfere with development in the game.

Tower defense and strategy: Guns’N’Glory WW2

The developers managed to successfully combine the popular TD genre with real-time strategy. Instead of the usual construction of defensive structures, the player has the opportunity to control tanks. With their help, it is precisely the task of stopping the enemy.

This is a completely successful combination of genres, which made the game more dynamic and intriguing. The game has a lot of types of equipment to unlock; there are also quite enough modes here for a long game.

Tower defense for challenge lovers: Element TD

It is a classic game of this genre, where opponents simply run from the beginning of the map to the other end, where the base is located. Your only goal is to stop them from reaching their goal. The game is characterized by simple graphics and uncomplicated gameplay.

The name of the game comes from the element control mechanics. Depending on the selected element, the selection of protective structures available for placement changes. Thanks to this approach, you can set different difficulty levels and complete missions with a limited set of structures. There are 44 towers, 50 types of monsters, and 5 difficulty levels to choose from. As you progress, you can earn 30 achievements. Element TD really deserves attention, especially for such a price.

Shaped Tower Defense: Infinitodes

In Infinitodes there are no traditional heroes or vehicles that constantly move around the map. Various figures have rebelled and other forms engage them in battle to the death. It is important to prevent the various circles, triangles, etc. from reaching the goal. The graphics of the game are extremely simple and uncomplicated.

The main feature of Infinitodes is the huge size of the levels, which can reach up to 1024 tiles. Countless structures have to be placed on it to counter these “dirty” balls. The game has hundreds of levels and constant updates. This is an endless game, the further you develop, the more rewards await you.

Tower defense on a grand scale: Clash of Clans

The hype around the game most likely did not pass by the reader. It's not so much tower defense as it is village defense. One of the main goals of the game is to build a village to extract resources. However, it is not enough to earn resources; they also need to be protected from other players.

It will not be possible to repel attacks in real time. But it is possible to observe successful or failed attacks after they are completed. This helps to notice weaknesses in defense and take the necessary measures for the safe life of the population. Destroy towers, increase walls, rearrange buildings. There is no need to worry, because even after the robbery, the settlement remains alive, but is deprived of a certain amount of resources.

The player also has the opportunity to attack other players; to do this, he needs to gather a strong detachment of troops and throw them at the enemy settlement.

Base Destruction: The Anomaly Series

Studio 11 bit has launched 3 games in this genre, their peculiarity is that the player takes the side of the attack. This means that the hero will have to create and improve a combat unit. It includes various vehicles to safely pass the towers.

A distinctive feature of the game is the ability to change the route while moving (not in all levels). In this way, you can choose a safer path or the one where there are towers from which the squad is best protected. The game supports multiplayer mode, in which you have the opportunity to take the defensive side.

Why did 3 games in the series receive only one mention, and then last? It's very simple, they haven't received any updates for the last 4-5 years. Naturally, the lack of support can lead to installation problems on devices with new OS versions. In addition, these games are paid.

This list is just our personal impression of tower defense games for Android. If you know any other good games, write about it in the comments.

At night we fight off the undead, during the day we pump up weapons, improve the hero, build barricades, etc. There is a cooperative.

Legion TD 2

Release date: 2017

Genre: tower defense, strategy, indie, fantasy

A direct continuation of the popular competitive Tower Defense, which is a mod for the game Warcraft III – Legion TD, developed by the same team. In the story, a certain disease has gripped the planet Nova and only a few worthy races are now standing guard over the planet, preventing the scourge from spreading.

The gameplay is based on online battle in 4v4 or 2v2 mode, while players can choose one of many races with their own unique characters. Each player here has his own corridor along which he sends his troops to attack. Enemies are coming towards him. Players must obtain resources, protect their king (the main unit, the loss of which leads to defeat) by placing fighters (analogous to towers) and attack the enemy king, while trying to coordinate their actions. For passing a wave you are given gold, which can be spent on improvements.

Eden Rising: Supremacy

Release date: 2018

Genre: tower defense, fantasy, multiplayer, sandbox, open world

A sandbox with elements of survival and Tower Defense, tailored for multiplayer play. Players here unite in tribes, explore the world and hunt all sorts of creatures (or vice versa), after which they build fortifications and protect the base from waves of monsters. The strength of each wave is known to players in advance, and it can be launched manually. Those. You can explore the world for a long time, collecting resources, and only then stand up to defend your base.

There is no leveling up here as such, and players select their role in battle using equipment that needs to be crafted using resources. At the same time, some equipment cannot be made without a drawing, which still needs to be found. In defense mode, you can use not only your characters, but also traps, fortifications, etc.

Protolife

Release date: 2018

Genre: tower defense, aliens, retro, pixel graphics, strategy, indie

Pixel Tower Defense with original mechanics, in which you, as colonists, have to fight against a proto-creature similar to crimson biomass, which sleeps during the day and grows at night. For this reason, the gameplay here can be divided into two phases: during the day we try to recapture the territory, and at night we try to protect everything we have.

Defensive structures in the game are built from blocks, which can be arranged in different ways to create different structures and towers with different characteristics. An unusual enemy - growing living biomass can seep into even the smallest gap in the defense, so its spread should be constantly monitored. Control here is carried out directly through the construction robot (even without the help of a mouse!), which imposes some restrictions on the gameplay - if you get carried away with construction on one side of the base, you will have to run for a long time to the other side, not having time to break through the defense.

Dig or Die

Release date: 2018

Genre: tower defense, pixel graphics, strategy, indie, open world, co-op, sandbox

A two-dimensional sandbox with Tower Defense elements, in which we must get out of the planet where we ended up as a result of the breakdown of our spaceship carrying cargo. The whole essence of the game comes down to exploring the world, extracting resources and surviving under constant massive attacks of alien creatures. To protect the base, the player can build various turrets, traps and other defensive structures. At the same time, it is important to remember that water in the game world operates according to all the laws of physics, and rain that suddenly begins on the surface may well flood your devices.

The advantages of the project also include the presence of a cooperative and several modes in which, for example, players begin their journey in a cave at the bottom of the ocean or on one of hundreds of flying islands. There is also a base defense mode, without exploring the world.
