Crazy maze board game. Board game Ravensburger Crazy Maze. What does the playing field look like?

Board game Crazy Maze victoria_pr wrote in August 7th, 2013

Summer is in full swing, and there are still not enough warm days. Therefore, in case of rain and forced sitting at home, I bought the board game “Labyrinth” for my eldest six-year-old son. And since this game captivated our entire family, right down to our grandparents, I want to tell you about this fascinating Labyrinth. Manufacturer Ravensburger and, accordingly, German quality is, as always, at the highest level. All cards are made of thick, smooth cardboard and over a couple of months of active use nothing has frayed or become wrinkled.

Now about the game itself: the set consists of a playing field with parts of the labyrinth, separate cards with pieces of the labyrinth, 4 figurines of heroes and a set of cards with picture tasks.

First you need to lay out the details of the maze on the playing field. It’s better to do this “closed” so as not to create a ready-made path into the labyrinth for yourself. We still have one card left. We will need it later to make a move.

In each corner of the playing field there is a colored circle, on which you need to place a hero figurine of the corresponding color.

Each player chooses their favorite traveler hero.

Next to the field we have a deck of game cards with a task face down.

The player takes the first card from the deck. We got an owl. And now you need to build the passages of the labyrinth in such a way as to get to the owl.

How to do it? On our playing field, some of the rows are movable. They are marked with yellow arrows. By moving a row in one direction or the other by the amount of one card, we can very significantly change the picture of the maze's moves. Remember our remaining card with a piece of the maze. Now she's just getting into action.

We shift the row we need by one card in any direction we need, and we put that “extra” card in the shift place. But at the other end we have another card freed up. With its help, the next player will make his move. Before completing the task, you can take neither one nor two moves, but it’s even more interesting, because other players, not knowing your goal, willy-nilly change the picture of the Labyrinth. Accordingly, the one who finds the most treasures of the Labyrinth and collects the most cards wins.

The game is very fun and addictive. My son plays it with pleasure and constantly attracts everyone at home to the game. But the most interesting thing is that the child is often able to see the necessary move much faster. Thanks to this game, the child develops spatial thinking, he learns to think logically and make non-standard decisions. I think now we'll try to play another version

Good game. We play with the whole family. My daughter is 4 years old and easily mastered the rules. Everyone is happy

    Alyona

My son said that this is the best game in the world. I liked it too. SUPER!!!

Answer: The game is really good! Be sure to pay attention to the game Cheese Castle, maybe you will like it too) And in general, if you like the playing field to always be different, then don’t pass by games like Jackal and Carcassonne.

    Elena

I really liked the game. Bought for the whole family. Children are 5 and 8 years old. For a 5 year old it is a little difficult to think through the right moves. The 8 year old is also lazy to think. My husband and I often play together. I recommend this game for both children and adults.

    Irina

when is delivery expected? I really want this game!

Answer: This is a big headache for all board game stores. Let's be honest, we don't know, it seems that Germany has imposed sanctions on the supply of board games to Russia and therefore the availability of Ravensburger games is very scarce.

  • Hi all!

Today's my review of the board game Crazy maze.

We have been looking for a game for a long time that would be interesting to both adults and children. And for now we settled on the labyrinth. I was looking for this game for a long time and, as usual, I found it by accident. With a discount it cost 500 rubles. cheaper, but still, in my opinion, not cheap for the level of the game, about 1,700 rubles. But I really wanted it and I bought it.

So, a few words about the game:

    1. The game is packaged in an excellent, durable, beautiful packaging that immediately puts you in the right mood.

    2. Inside we will find the rules of the game, a game board, 34 tiles for the game, 24 secret cards and 4 game pieces. Here is a photo of all the contents:

    3. The game is very colorful, the pictures are beautiful and when you play you get aesthetic pleasure.
    4. Everything is packaged in a wonderful organizer that makes storage very convenient.

    5. The quality is generally very good for all components, which is undoubtedly pleasing.
    6. The rules of the game are quite simple and can be easily understood. Described in accessible language.
    7. The game is designed for 2-4 players.
    8. Recommended age: from 7 years.
    9. Time per batch is approximately 20-30 minutes. In reality, we think longer about moves.
    10. The goal of the game is to collect all your artifacts and return to your starting cell by moving the walls of the labyrinth. How to play is described in detail in the rules.

    11. You can find the game in online stores, and rarely in retail stores. The toy is not new, so it is not available everywhere.
    12. The cost ranges from 1700-2300 rubles.
    13. The Crazy Maze game is interesting and exciting. I think you will get tired of playing it all the time, but sometimes it’s very interesting to play a game or two))) The game does not take much time and is essentially not difficult to understand, but not as simple as it might seem at first. The game is interesting, but still not for avid board game lovers, but specifically as an option for children. But older people also enjoy playing it.

The idea is generally interesting, I think you should have one of these moving games in your collection of board games. This is our Crazy Maze!

I recommend it without a doubt!

I wish everyone a pleasant shopping experience and a great mood!

Players use cards to lay out an ever-changing labyrinth. Each player tries to lay out his card in such a way that a passage appears between two identical treasures (chests, dragons, ghosts, and so on). In this case, players take treasure cards as a reward. The one who has collected the most cards at the end of the game wins.

    Preparing for the game

The cards are shuffled and two are dealt to each player. Four more cards are laid out in the middle of the table in the shape of a square. The remaining cards are a deck and are placed face down. The youngest participant in the game starts first.

    Progress of the game

On each player's turn, he performs the following actions:
  • Lay out a card: At the beginning of the turn, the player must lay out one of the cards from his hand so that it is adjacent to the cards already laid out and so that at least one road depicted on the newly laid out card turns into a road on the already laid out card.
  • Take treasure: The player points his finger at the resulting passage between the treasures and takes the card with the second treasure. It is set aside and is counted towards the player for one point at the end of the game. You can take the treasure only if all other cards remain connected to each other (corner contact does not count as connection). The card laid out during this turn remains on the table in any case.
  • End of turn: At the end of a turn, a player draws a card from the deck. The stroke is transmitted clockwise.
  • The game ends as soon as there are no more cards in the deck and in the players' hands. The one with the most points wins.

Electronic gadgets of recent decades have not been able to oust board games from the market. On the contrary, they are actively developing. And they are becoming more diverse and interesting.

A Brief History of Board Games

It is believed that games are primarily for children. They are the ones who are constantly playing something while learning about the world around them. But this is not only leisure time for children.

Initially, board games were invented by adults and for adults. It is believed that the first board game appeared in Ancient Egypt. It was invented by the god of knowledge Thoth in order to win a few extra days from the moon god. He came up with it himself and won it himself. But the rules of this game were forgotten over time.

India is considered the birthplace of chess. Maps were invented in the East in the 12th century. Then they spread throughout Europe.

Some ancient entertainments have long been lost irretrievably. But some, having changed, have survived to this day. These are chess, go, backgammon, card games, etc.

Initially, it was an expensive pleasure and entertainment for the rich. Over time, games developed and improved. In Russia in the 19th century, educational games for children and historical strategies dedicated to the Russian-Turkish wars appeared.

In the 20th century, board games experienced a peak in popularity. Both educational and simply entertaining games developed. Economic strategies have emerged. Many probably remember the most popular "". People were attracted to her abroad. Then she reached Russia. At first, in our country it was often painted by hand until it could not be bought in a store.

    What games are there?

Board games can be divided into categories:

    • Adults
    • For children
    • Joint (adults with children)

Usually, what was invented by adults eventually “migrated” into children’s leisure time.

With the advent of the computer era, interest in traditional entertainment has dropped significantly. Paper versions looked anachronistic in the era of gadgets.

But by the 21st century, it was understood that electronic games do not replace real human communication. And all over the world, another rise in interest in “board games” began. Sales volumes have also increased.

Now interest in board games is growing in Russia. There are more of them, you can buy domestic ones or transferred foreign ones. For example, Crazy Labyrinth.

A little about the game itself

It must be said right away that “Crazy Labyrinth” is a well-deserved game, time-tested, long-lived in the entertainment market. It was published by Ravensburger in 1986.

The Labyrinth was created by a psychology professor, so it takes into account many of the nuances of the participants’ behavior. The rules of the game in the crazy maze are clear even to children. And incredibly exciting for adults.

On average, the game takes from 15 to 40 minutes. From two to four people, of different ages, can participate.

Among children's board games, Labyrinth is the most successful.

After such a triumphant start associated with the game Ravensburger Labyrinth, the company published a whole series of board games with a similar theme.

    Equipment

    The set includes:

    1. field for the game.
    2. passage cards in the amount of 34 pieces. They depict the passages of the labyrinth.
    3. secret cards – 24 pieces. These are treasure cards that need to be found.
    4. chips - figures of 4 players: witch, sorcerer, sorcerer's apprentice, princess.

What does the playing field look like?

But the playing field looks different here! Unlike other strategies, where it is constant, in this one the field is constantly and unpredictably changing. This is one of the most interesting highlights of the game itself.

The field consists of wall cards, which form the labyrinth itself.

Some of the field fragments are rigidly fixed, while the other part is constantly moving. Because of this, the design of the labyrinth changes unpredictably all the time, which is why it was called “crazy.”

During his turn, the player moves the “walls”, freeing up passage for himself. As a result, not one card is shifted, but a whole row, creating new moves or traps for opponents.

Here you need to calculate not only your moves, but also the actions of your opponents, because they are also looking and also making their own passages. Which may interfere with your own.

It is much more difficult to play in a constantly changing maze than on a flat, static field. But it’s also much more exciting. Here the participants will be required to have logic and quick reactions, because they need to complete the task in time, not get lost and leave the maze before the others.

    Purpose of the game

What is the players' task? In general terms, this is the need to be the first to find magical objects while moving across the playing field.

Participants move through the ever-changing environment of the Ravensburger Labyrinth, searching for treasure and then the way back. At the very beginning, secret cards with treasures - magical objects - are distributed. Each player must find their items and then return to their starting position. Before the rest. He will be the winner.

    Player categories

Before you buy a thing, you should figure out who it is intended for. Will it be interesting only to children or to adults too?

The Ravensburger Labyrinth strategy is perfect for family fun. The rules are simple, so adults as well as children from 6-7 years old can participate. For very young children, this board game may seem difficult. There is a simplified version for children over 4 years old.

Such board games for children are good for developing logic and the ability to calculate moves. Adults will enjoy having fun with good company or with their own children, without wasting time on complicated rules.

There are fewer game pieces and additional items here than, for example, in Arcassone. The difficulty lies only in the constantly changing “landscape”.

    Rules and mechanics

This is an almost classic “walker” with minor variations.

    Rules of the game:

    1. First, all participants sort out treasure cards that they need to find. Of course, this is done blindly and neighbors should not look at other people's cards.
    2. Participants choose which figure they will play as.
    3. Figure chips are placed around the perimeter of the field. If there are two players, then you can take two figures.
    4. The cards are thoroughly shuffled before playing. Then they are laid out on the playing field.
    5. A three-dimensional labyrinth is made from cards; one square card always remains free.
    6. With the help of this free card, all moves and changes in the “landscape” are made.
    7. When a participant makes a move, he places a free card in the correct place. The remaining parts, having moved, form a new corridor. You need to move along this passage as far as possible until the player reaches a dead end.
    8. It is no longer possible to return shifted cards. We just need to keep changing the passages.
    9. Your opponent, having made his move, can completely upset your plans and lead you astray. You'll have to change your calculations as you go.
    10. Each participant must collect all their treasures.
    11. Having collected all the items, you should return to the place where the figure began its journey.

    Mechanics

The game mechanics are also simple. The set of square fragments in Ravensburger Labyrinth depict fragments of underground passages. Some of them are motionless, while the other part forms changing walls and columns of the playing space.

During the game, you change the situation by moving the corridors and walls with your chips. Lack of staticity, plasticity and mobility are the main components of this exciting strategy.

How to find the items you need

We must understand in advance that treasures are already waiting for seekers to come for them. They are located on 16 fixed squares of the playing field. Nothing can be moved or changed here. Only the walls and corridors of the space change. But this is quite enough for an exciting journey.

    Who will be the witch?

And also a princess, a magician or a magician's apprentice. Yes, very simple. Participants choose their own figures. They are placed on the edge of the field before the start of the game. Each chip has its own place. This is a square, and which is inscribed in a circle of the color of the corresponding figure. At the same time, participants take themselves “treasure” cards that they need to find. Choose strictly blindly! You can't peek. The cards must be divided equally among everyone.

What you can and should do on your turn

    • Start by looking at your treasure map, the very first one, to know what items to look for.
    • Now you need to look at the playing field and figure out how to get to the desired object faster and shorter. Figure out how to change the labyrinth in the direction you need.
    • You take a free card (it should always be left after the layout before the game) and move the whole row.
    • On the other side, another card should fall out, which has become “extra”.
    • Move your piece along the opened passage to the place you need. Or until you hit a wall. You can't go through them.
    • By the way, you can move not only the row where your figure is located, but also the one where your opponent is located.
    • And don't forget to get out of the corridors. Remember, the exit here is where the entrance was.

About the board game Crazy Maze new version

Over the decades of its existence, the strategy has gone through several changes, improvements and enhancements. There are versions for the little ones:

    1. Labyrinth Junior. This is a smaller and slightly simplified version for children aged 4 years and older. Ghosts travel through the corridors of the castle, looking for hidden treasures. Instead of treasure cards, this variant features tokens. Starting with this simplified version, the child will then move on to more complex options.

    2. Option for fans of the cartoon “Cars” - Labyrinth Junior: Cars. Colorful “walker” based on the cartoon. Suitable for older children.

    3. There is an option for even older players - Master Labyrinth. If participants have completed previous types of mazes and have grown up, they will want more exciting adventures and dangers. They offer a serious and complex version with a dragon's labyrinth. Here participants will face more difficult obstacles than in previous variations.

What are the differences between the new labyrinth and the old one?

This popular “walker” is now sold in a new, expanded version. There are no fundamental differences from the previous version. The design of the figures has changed a little, some details have now become more elaborate and neat.

The decoration began to play with brighter colors. But all the rules and all the mechanics of the game remained the same.

    Publishers

The legendary game appeared in Germany from the publishing house Ravensburger. Currently, this is one of the most famous companies that produces educational games, creativity kits, etc.

Its assortment includes materials for creativity, for coloring and drawing, a variety of games, educational thematic puzzles. Children's boards are very diverse. These include traditional lotto and dominoes, cubes, “memories”, a series of logos and many types of outdoor games. Puzzles (their themes already include more than 300 topics) in the children's version are produced in large pieces. The version for adults is more complex and involves smaller fragments, and their number in one set can reach up to 18 thousand.

These puzzles also feature an original design. The materials from which the puzzles are made are interesting. Mosaic fragments can be made of metallized material, with a silk-screen printing effect, or glow in the dark.

    Reviews

Buyers “vote” with their wallets when choosing this strategy. And for several decades. New re-releases only add to the popularity of the Labyrinth. But to complete the picture, the main advantages of this game should be noted.

    • Recently a new version of this game appeared. The design has become brighter, more colorful and of higher quality. The details are well worked out.
    • Preparing for the process itself and explaining the rules takes a few minutes.
    • The rules are simple, understandable without much explanation, even for beginners or children.
    • The batch can take only 20-30 minutes. Sometimes this is very convenient.
    • Interesting "mechanics". A moving playing field is more interesting and gives more options than a static one.

    Main disadvantages:

    1. The brevity of games may turn out to be not a positive, but a negative quality. For those who like long and complex games, such a quick finish may be disappointing.

    2. The game is quite simple. Those who like complex multi-pass moves are better off choosing other options.

    3. Perhaps the downside is that more than 4 participants will not be able to play.

    Additional materials

The Crazy Maze board game can be significantly improved and supplemented on your own. To do this, you just need to change the rules a little and add additional material for the game. All materials are easily made by hand. It is done according to the principle: print and play.

    • The playing field is taken from the standard set.
    • 34 cards are fragments of moves, all of this is already in the basic set.
    • 20 tokens, numbered from 1 to 20 and one numbered 25 - made with your own hands.
    • Take 12 magic wands. Can be replaced with buttons or something else.
    • Secret formula - 21 pieces. You have to print it yourself.
    • 4 figure chips are included in the basic set.

    Description of actions

An ancient, possibly enchanted and twisted dungeon holds magical ingredients. Wizards really need them. The ingredients should be collected strictly in order. First, everyone looks for item number 1. Then, having found it, they begin to look for the next one.

The one who discovers the desired item takes it for himself. The one who finds the most magical objects is awarded the most points.

    Progress of the game

The rules here are almost the same as in the basic maze.

    • First, the cards are shuffled and placed in fixed rows on the playing field. There must be one “extra” left.
    • The selected chips are placed in certain places from the edge of the field.
    • All tokens are shuffled and placed face down on the squares of the field. When everyone is in place, they need to be turned “face” up.
    • Without looking, pull out one card at a time with a description of the formula.
    • Take 3 magic wands (if there are 4 players).
    • Moves begin with the movement of corridors. According to the rules, you are allowed to move in any direction, but only along the corridors. When you get the token you need on the cell, you take it.
    • Collect them in order. If one of their participants took token No. 1, then now they can take No. 2, etc.
    • Participants stack the received tokens so that everyone else can see them.
    • Several chips can stand on the same square.
    • Collected ingredients (which are marked on the secret map) give the player extra points, so it is important to find them all.
    • Tokens also give points, especially for the last one picked up.
    • Magic wands can make wishes come true - they can, for example, be used to pay for good advice. But at the same time it is eliminated. And if the wand is never used, then the player receives additional points - 3 points for each.
    • For the selected token, points are awarded according to the number on the token.
    • For a token from the secret formula, another 20 points are given.
    • The one with the most points will become the Great Wizard.
